    Hey that's not fair!

ke02eww will participate with the auction so he can influence his position in that competition with his own bids X-(

And I am sure that he'll be bidding GBP 5000 up just in order to win Petes crew hat :D

    Thx Pete.

I'll start a thread for it.
Only problem is my iPad has just blown up.
Remarkable how many iPads or ifones have "expired" in the past month or so.
Bet we all know someone who's lost something "dear" to them recently.
I now get it where the idiotic theory that apple have installed "expiry notices" in their kit comes from..:)
    Cheers

    Hello KEWE ;)

    Have a look here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_obsolescence

Apple was charged guilty for using rechargeable batteries in early iPods that went defective by a programmed chip *. The battery was ok but it did not work anymore in the iPods.
They where forced to replace all iPods from that series and had to pay a hefty penalty.

Would I put my money on that this will never happen again - with Apple or other makers?

And I am pretty certain that the same thing happened with the battery for my Sony Hi8 camcorder - I never had to replace a rech. battery that often....

Attach to your PC and do a restore - takes a while to do but best bet I'd say. If not pop to an Apple Store (book an appoitment first)
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
Even when it's plugged to my Mac, it remains dead, cold restore is not possible, I don't even see the Apple.......

If its not showing up when plugged into your Mac then I think you'll need a trip to the Apple Store !! (you could try leaving plugged into the Mac for a while to see if it 'appears')

This is weird, my iPhone did the same thing yesterday. Was on iOS 6 from the 20th Sept, got it out of my pocket, dead. Power Button - Nothing, Soft Reboot (Power & Home held down) eventually got the Apple come up, took forever to boot and seems to have been OK since. Seems a little coincidental to me ?:) Power was at 48% and it does appear to drain quicker under iOS 6.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
I am still on 4.3.3 (never change a running system) but suffered exactly the same like Andy says.

Crazy thing is, that it came back after some hours and is working now without problems.
I will put a new IOS 4.3.3 by tomorrow and hope that it will not freak again.

I'll be in the US in November and need the navigation app a lot then :#

May be worth doing a back up and then a restore. But it will update to iOS 6
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
Thanks, Tomo, I have done the backup but won't update to IOS 6 now
I regret having done it with my iPad (missing Youtube app for example).

There is a YouTube app on the App Store - free. The only bad thing about iOS 6 is the maps. That will get better though. iPhone 4 seems faster with iOS 6 ??
  • Gadget MeisterGadget Meister Bicester, OxonPosts: 1,972MI6 Agent
Markus, the new maps are very dubious. I run TomTom Europe & TomTom USA & Canada on the IP4, I have and oustanding call with TomTom at the moment .... If you populate your TomTom favorites with more than a couple or three address the app crashes not only itself but it's sister app as well requiring a full reinstall of both, they haven't got a fix yet so I don't use favorites anymore.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
    Hello Andy,

I am running Navigon for Europe and the US and am very happy with it!

Never been a fan of TomTom
