Came across this Ben Sherman today not SA in terms of arms or pockets etc but a close runner for the summer will set you back £70

    Hey,

Thanks for posting the photo. I have to admit, there have been many shirts posted as being similar alternatives. However, the colour and pattern of that particular shirt is the closest I've seen so far.

It's a shame they didn't sell it with long sleeves, and 2 pockets. I really liked how Daniel wears the shirt in the scorpion bar, with the sleeves rolled up.

Yes it is the closest in colour and fabric pattern I have seen. I did think of buying two and visiting a tailors but then hopefully the summer will come soon and the short sleeves will come into their own anyway.

May pick up another in the sales

    Cheers

    Hey,

It was great that you mentioned the shirt is by Ben Sherman. I was curious to check out the men's shirts on their website.

I found 4 shirts that all look awfully similar to the Zara shirt! To me, I think the "plectrum classic point collar shirt" in nimbus cloud and the "made in england albini shirt" in framboise are the closest. Notice how it's long sleeved, but has one pocket rather than two. Also, there's a hint of purple mixed in with the blue spots on the fabric! The Zara shirt appears to have subtle traces of purple in it, mixed with blue.

I watched Skyfall again last night, and looked at the scorpion bar and brief entrance to MI6 scenes closely. I noticed that the floral pattern on the shirt is fairly subtle, not in large in size. The colour is quite a pale blue, that "nimbus cloud" colour really struck me!

I'm so tempted to get either, but I'd prefer to get the Zara one, I have a feeling the reissue of the Zara shirt will work out for The Mantis.

I'm curious to see what you think!

My vote would be Pale Grey, nimbus cloud, framboise and then monument with my original due to fabric pattern

Couple of quibbles with those shirts. First of all, button collar - not very James Bond. They are also look like a "casual dress shirt" type of material. The Zara and the H&M close-enough are a heavier, more safari like material. They bunch up more like you're heading into the jungle than into the club. Think it's a heavy cotton but not sure.

I was thinking the same about the button down, but I guess you could always just clip the buttons

Single pocket and short sleeve are what ruin it for me.

    Where is the reissue?! :)

This is my first post in the forum.

Came across this and thought it was up to scratch, pretty similar pattern although missing one pocket and not particularly cheap...

    what do you think?

I know I am VERY late, but I am very interested in the ZARA re-issue. Please keep up the good work - and me up to date!

Not late at all...still very much a work in progress! When the time comes the manufacturer will be taking orders directly.

I am looking forward very much to this, Mantis!

BTW: Is anyone offering the H&M lookalike shirt in XXL? If so, please send me a PM!

Hmm, will be interesting to see if you can get both...reminds me of a woman who told me a long time ago that when it comes to fashion you either get good (she meant well-made, in this case accurate) OR affordable but never both...

I don't mind paying for quality and accuracy.

So do I, Jon, but in a reasonable balance.

Bought this shirt on Ebay. The pattern is very similar to the elusive "Enjoying Death" shirt. It's got a slim fit, but no front pockets. Does look good with the jacket and Topman pants though. Maybe some more will be listed soon?

    UPDATE!

The shirt, now in Jakarta, is looking like it may have a potential delivery date of late June or early July....I am hoping by mid may to have a list of fabric used, customization listed (ie what was done to the original shirt) and of course pricing. Also by mid way the manufacturer will set up the contact information so people can do more than raise their hand on a board. Expect by mid May manufacturing pics to be posted...I want to document the "making" of this shirt for the Bond community...so it is more than just receiving a shirt in the mail, but an opportunity for all of us to take the journey together!

Moving forward folks...looks like we will all have summer shirts to wear with our Topman chinos!

Superb news David!! I'm sure I speak on behalf of many members looking at this thread that we all appreciate the time taken to get this project off the ground and appreciate the effort made. Fantastic news and can't wait to see it move forward and I look forward to completing my LVC menlo and topman chinos with the shirt. TOP NEWS!

Thank you don P :) Much appreciated but I think I'll hang on for one of the reproduction shirts, having just read that it looks like a goer. Is that Ok 'The Mantis'? Can you please add me to the list? Thanks! :)
