Hi Hart,
So today is my 40th birthday! Arghhhhhhhhhh bye bye 30s.
I have planned a James Bond theme party tonight (Pics will be on Instagram under @Legallybond if anyone wants to see) and
I had planned on wearing the "enjoying death" outfit, with this shirt being the only missing item but hey its no big deal, I'm fortunate enough to have many other outfits to choose from.
I'm really looking forward to receiving this shirt and I can't thank you enough for your efforts in making this happen.
I can't imagine the stress this must have given you so hat's off my friend!
Hey guys, the shirts are in the process of being made.
They are in the tailor division now they are being made at this time.
In terms of sizes and all will stick to the original sizing , if you ordered an M you will receive an XL.
So nothing has changed only the backend sizing from my end which you guys dont need to worry about.
Again im sorry for the delay. when i first agreed for this project, i had no channels in terms of tayloring, and the taylors im using now are good taylors seeing from their clients, the downside is only the waiting list. they usually taylor in the thousands amount, therefore they priorities those who order the big amounts.
I was lucky they put me in and now the shirts are being made.
I know how you must all feel.. again im so sorry.
For those that supported me from day one i hope you will be satisfied with this
This is disturbing. He has been made aware of the sizing issues and is sticking with the original plan??? I have 2 shirts, one is XXL, the other is XXXL both fit about the same with the larger size actually a bit tighter.... Hart has said it's the Zara sizing chart and slim fit, but that doesn't explain why an XXXL is smaller than an XXL. This project has been a cluster from the start with the added issue of dealing with Indonesia issues, etc. All I can say is NEVER again
I was also under the impression that the size chart I sent over was going to be the one used in the second batch, so a size L was indeed a size L, and this business of upsizing was a thing of the past?
Dont mind the wait but would like some reassurance that the sizing issues have been rectified...
Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree".
Yeah I also do not quite understand what is going on with the sizing. I thought that with all the cockups that he would start afresh.
This is why I have asked for clarification
Maybe there is a Language barrier here?????????
At this point in time I have ordered a XL but have not the faintest idea what the heck I'm going to get, this resizing stuff is nonsense if making new shirts, stick to the original chart we agreed to
OK, I am not connected to the run in any way, but here's what's happening, at least as far as I can see from the thread.
Tailors out East use, give or take, the same sizes as us. They just call them different things. You will get the size that fits you. Forget about what it says on the label.
Somewhere along the line, there was a SNAFU with the original sizing. I think it was because Hart tried to go custom and appropriate the fit of the original Zara, there was a mistranslation or something, and the result was a bunch of useless shirts. This time, he's using the standard sizing, easy.

Are you sure though? This what Hart said today which confuses everybody

I'm not sure that I should wade into this at all as I didn't order, but I have been so impressed by the incredible patience and understanding of those who did - and I don't for a moment discount the huge effort that Hart has gone to and the awful and unwanted pressure that he has undoubtedly been under - that I feel I should chip in with my two-cents worth. I really want everyone to be happy with their products as these shirts were not cheap, and I want Hart to finish with happy customers so that he can receive the credit that he's due for his work. For that reason I think it's very important that those people who currently have shirts comment on the precise sizing of the items they have received. I seem to recall reading messages from people who'd received shirts that were supposedly their 'new' sizes (ie people who'd ordered M but under the new size-charts received XXL etc which were supposedly actually M) to get their precise feedback. I believe people were stating that even the new sizes were not quite correct: that sleeves were too long/short, that bodies were too long/short and that despite having paid a not inconsiderable amount of money for the items, they were still going to have to send them to their tailors to be adjusted before they could actually wear them. If that is indeed the case, given that the new shirts are currently under manufacture - and therefore before it's too late - I think it would be important if these people could wade back in with their comments.
I don't for a moment wish to criticise Hart because taking on a project like this is enormously difficult and he should receive nothing but praise for the effort, but I also feel that people who've paid a lot of money and waited a considerable amount of time should at least get a shirt that they can immediately wear and not have to pay further tailoring fees.
I'll say it again - and I could be wrong - but feedback from current owners is pointless because they are not using that (more advanced) system of sizing again. They are just going to do standard sizing instead.

I hope your right, I just think Harts wording was a bit contradictory

Maybe he could log in more often and clarify better, as mentioned before simply sizing up did not work for most people.

I have shirts from 2 different runs and the sizes got smaller.........So yes I believe you could be wrong
I wear an XL from numerous shirt sources. Occasionally when buying from Europe I need XXL as the sizes there tend to run small. I can't button the XXXL which came from the second run. So either Hart's manufacture is wrong or the rest of the world is.
I'm sorry guys, I am showing my frustration publically and I know everyone just wants their shirts. I was in the same place so I understand. I just don't understand why Hart who has been told by numerous people the sizing is messed up, is not fixing it! Instead he is sticking with the "Zara" chart which is his excuse as to why my XXXL from the last run doesn't fit.
Surely, there has only been one run of the shirts produced so far?
Originally, we were told that this shirt would not follow the Zara fit. It would be produced for a normal adult fit. Hart then came up with a size chart following the wash which shrank the shirts and we ordered from that. The manufacturer completely ignored Hart's size chart and produced a run of shirts which didn't fit anybody.
As I understand it (and I could be wrong too!) the second run of shirts - which have yet to be made - will again be produced using the manufacturers own size chart and Hart will send out a larger shirt than ordered and hopefully it will fit.....!!
I am far from confident that I'm going to receive a shirt that will fit. I appreciate the work that has gone into this project and I'm sure Hart is more upset than we are that it has gone so wrong but we were promised these shirts a year ago now and we don't seem to be any nearer and may yet not receive a usable shirt.
An UPDATE!!! Hart met with the first manufacturer Saturday.
See the pics below but we are making sure these replicas follow as close to the original as possible
Point 1 : We want the shirt to have the same stitching on the back (that creates the slim look on the waist and back)
Point 2: The grey placket on the bottom of the shirt on both sides left and right, we remove those and also we follow that curve on the side of the shirt.
Point 3 : The patterns do not meet in the stitching, this will most likely occur also on our ones.
Here is the current situation
It will take a 1 and a half weeks for him to redesign the same pattern , and colour and create a " sample " of the material. Usually it takes quicker, the problem is he said we cannot cut your shirt - usually they take a piece of material and scan it but because they only have a visual sample they will need to redesign the pattern and match the light blue colour as close as they can, he said the pattern of the flowers is the time consuming one. Once the sample is done, he will meet with Hart again and we will have a picture and I will give input on the sample material.
Hart is also meeting another manufacturer this week to make sure he has other options, not just depending on one person.
He is also looking at the tally of serious buyers:
1. getting the estimate of serious buyers - as he cannot negotiate price or identify the quantity without first giving them a number of shirts. When the material is done they will quote him , but they need the amount of shirts he will produce in order to get that price... usually these factories produce in mass amount, usually in the thousands, so they will need to charge a surcharge if the amount is low.
I was about to take my ED shirt to the tailors for adjustments and noticed there are no darts on the back. I trawled through this thread again as I was sure the shirt was meant to have them, and true enough there was something written about darts.
To anyone else who has received a shirt, does yours have darts on the back?
I'll say it again - and I could be wrong - but feedback from current owners is pointless because they are not using that (more advanced) system of sizing again. They are just going to do standard sizing instead.

Uncle27 is right, there was only one run, the second run is happening now.
Hart never really explained what happened last time. Maybe there was some confusion with the Zara sizing. More likely, he asked the tailors to translate the sizes instead of doing it himself and they forgot to, hence the tiny shirts. Or both of these things together.
What he's doing now is simply ordering standard sizes. I'm pretty confident that these should fit and be with us in July. I got nervous after the first run that there wouldnt be the resources to manufacture another bolt of fabric. I was impressed that this happened, and pretty quickly too. Short of a reissue by Zara, this is as close as I reckon we're going to get and in a couple of years time, people reading this thread will wish they'd been here in time. Normally the way this stuff goes.

Well he told me the second shirt didn't fit because of Zara sizing. It is also smaller. So if what you are saying is true Hart either lied to me or there are massive inconsistencies within the same run or both.
I don't want to find out my 300+ dlls went to waste after waiting over a year and finding out my two shirts wont fit. I seriously doubt you could make one shirt out of the two.
My advice to Hart, for what it's worth, has been to over communicate all along. People, and especially people on this board, have a remarkably high tolerance for waiting IF they know what they are waiting for. I truly hope Hart is correcting the tags in the shirt to read more in line with the measurement chart. My XL fits me like a medium would in most shirts but I would rather it read medium in the tag....just less of a reminder of the sizing issues etc. As some have mentioned the has been only one run so far and it seems as if the second run tailoring has begun. I will say it is a fact that it is difficult to get these short runs done through the manufacturer that Hart is using but waiting is waiting and I know patience is wearing thin. I myself am still waiting on one shirt to come in.
Hart, I think even a daily answering of questions and concerns on this board would not be a bad thing just to keep people in the know and expectations clear.
Some folks in the US got theirs, too. I know because I'm one of them. I think there were eight on the email I got saying we were getting ours. Excluding Mantis.
Hey guys i thank you for your patience and tolerance.
Yes the shirt was tailored to be identical with the zara youth but the darts were excluded as the taylors refused to include darts they say it will shrink even more during the garment wash procedure. The shorts are done. And. I will pic them up this week . In total pnly 120 were ordered i have included all buyers in one email group i pick up the shirts this week and will garment wash and send pics after that it is sent off to you all. Re the label size better to follow the taylor so they wont confuse themselves . The size label better to cut off if u use for personal use i will send pics son guys
Hi Hart, thanks or the update... I'm just a little concerned as I understood that last time, after the garment wash, the shirts shrunk considerably.
How will you check the sizes to ensure everyone gets a shirt that fits?
8-) Easy...!!
The manufacturer makes a shirt 4 sizes larger than the one you ordered, using a different size chart to the one you used, then shrinks it down to a size 2 sizes larger than the one you ordered...
Obviously, nobody has seen the manufacturers chart but it's similar to the one we used only with more Xs on it.
The manufacturers label will obviously be different to the one you were expecting so if and when your shirt arrives, simply cut off the label and BOOM! A perfectly fitting shirt built not to Zara sizes but to proper adult sizes as intended!! However... there may need to be some adjustments to the sleeves and/or length of the shirt...
Well, that's how I understand it. I may be wrong... :007)
Yes @uncle027 we try to make it is as similar to zara original shirt as possible even the curves on the waist the collar and all (except the darts ) hope to post pics end of this week guys
Cheers

? I'm not aware that my earlier post was in any way challenging? ?:)
it's just that it seems to me there's room for error with 'make it four sizes larger then hopefully shrink it down two sizes'. ) And given that this is an opportunity to correct the issues with the first run to, umm, reward the patience of these who haven't received a shirt yet, I was wondering how Hart (who has done a good job so far under challenging circumstances) could check the sizing. -{
I was saying that the answer to ensuring the sizing issue is correct was easy. Before going on to suggest (with tongue firmly in cheek!) that it isn't. Seems the humour and irony has been lost in translation somewhere.
However, Hart has clearly stated that he is sticking with the manufacturers size chart used in Run 1 so as not to confuse them. We will therefore be receiving a shirt 2 sizes larger than the one we ordered and hopefully it will fit....
I am genuinely surprised that finished shirts can be shrunk to size without problems, but then, file that under "what do I know". That's the big file, over there.
