I was reading an interview with Michael Wilson & Barbara Broccoli in SFX magazine yesterday. Wilson let slip a tantalising titbit that they now have the rights to use Blofeld & SPECTRE, but prefer to use Quantum at present because they're more a business-orientated organisation. He feels the Austin Powers effect is still fairly prevelant.
I think it'd be a good plan to to have Quantum turn into SPECTRE, perhaps in the next film. It's certainly a direction to go. And proof positive that even dastardly businesses can suffer takeovers.

interpretation of Blofeld and SPECTRE they can come up with.
I'm sure the nehru suits and white cat would be ditched. Mabey give SPECTRE a harder
edge to them.
Then again I don't mind Quantum and it would also be interesting to see where they might go
with them, I only hope whichever group Bond has to face in the future Comes up with
some Grand operation on a world wide scale.
You judge a hero on the villains he has to face and lately, Bond has had some pretty poor
Villains to fight. He needs some tougher opponents, Luckily Skyfall seems to have a decent
Villain. So mabey the powers that be have decided to give bond some tougher Villains to
fight in the future.
And quite right, a hero is only ever as good as his nemesis & vice versa.
Quantum being the new bad organisation, yes, renaming it SPECTRE..... bit 'yeah baby' for my liking.

SPECTRE returms. )
But I'd put money on,
Barney, the Chuckle Bros, Jedward, and Adam Sandler ( how does he still get movies ?)
all being Linked to it. :v
You're mistaken: Goldfinger is not in SPECTRE--he's an independent operative who gets financing from China for his major scheme.

"Oh Bond youre soooo outta shape! comeon now work it baby work it! 1 and a 2 and a 1 and a 2..."
I think a great villains for Bond would be a new recurring baddie who is difficult to prove IS a baddie. - A politician that keeps his fingers out of the pie? For example Tim Pigott-Smiths Foreign Minister from QoS?
Plus if you have a reboot, it should be about a fresh start, new directions - not rehashing old ideas all over again all over again. That's also why I am apathetic about the next Star Trek film, if what has been leaked is remotely true.
and I am sure Rick Astley could do a good job of leading this dastardly bunch to world domination.
On a serious note, which villians do you think they could resurrect in the franchise???
I think Goldfinger could be taken as a serious villain, not sure who else, Rosa Klebb?
a reinvented Blofeld for the reboot and Perhaps the retrun
of SPECTRE. Although I'm quite happy with Quantum if they are given
a little more villiany to do. B-)
Oddjob would make a great villian for the Craig era if reimagined right
Half of films made these days are either remakes, prequels, sequels, 'off shoots' from other successful franchises and usually involve a comic book character.
I don't mind my sequels, or series (obviously) but sometimes it gets a bit daft.
The bond series doesn't need old characters brought back. Oddjob was old Harold, Goldfinger was Gert. Bringing these characters back would be pointless and confusing.
All this 'reboot' and 'alternative dimension' stuff does my head in. Bond isn't sci-fi.
The reboot happened because EoN wanted a new direction, not so they could go over old stuff again. There is no alternative dimension, Bond is bond.

I am open to Quantum however though. So would be interesting if they expand on that.
