If the Bond films were to get the "Lucas" treatment

Note - I DO NOT support the idea of altering classic films in anyway, this is just for discussion.

Seeing how Lucas has made some changes to his classic SW trilogy, what changes would you make or suggest if the same were to be planned for the classic 007 Films?

(Keeps eye on Minigeff for a smartass remark :p )

See, when you ask and expect a smart arse comment, it takes all the fun out of it :))

As for your question, could you clarify it a bit? Do you mean if the films were remade, or if some new film was made as a prequel, like 'the phantom menace' was?

I think GordoLeiter refers to the special editions of the original Star Wars Trilogy with new scenes and CGI that was released a few years before episode one (correct me if I'm wrong GordoLeiter but I will reply to your question from this standpoint).

One of the few things I might like to see improved upon is the back screen projection in the earlier films (up and untill AVTAK). I can imagine this wasn't a really big problem in the 60's, 70's and 80's but on viewing the films now this really stands out. Otherwise I wouldn't change too much because the films are good enough by themselves.

    Correct.

One change i would make is if possible to rescore Doctor No to have more of a Barry like soundtrack and less of the over dramatic music.

Without overhauling everything that has ever bothered me in every film (actually probably a fairly short list with Bond films as I generally take them for what they are and just shrug off any problems rather than allowing them to unduly irritate me), the one thing I would really like to see done is NSNA re-scored. Although there are aspects of NSNA that I quite enjoy, I am really not a fan of it. However, if peace were ever to 'break out' and the film could be rid of its cheesey 1980s porn soundtrack (ahem, not that I know what cheesey 1980s porn soundtracks sound like, of course!) and Monty Norman's classic Bond theme added etc, I think it would be far more bearable.

The themes song to NSNA actually isnt so bad, but i do agree the score kinda sucks.

If Lucas re-did Die Another Day, perhaps he would "bar, bar Jinx" from the proceedings.

    Sorry. :D

Jedi just see someone doing Star Wars puns? Yoda thought that Star Wars puns would be frowned upon, Wan would be bad enough but this is getting outta hand.

But don't Fett, I'm sure it won't go on for long, we R2 not rock the sail barge too much, otherwise the mods will blasters all for badda behaviour.

See, an initial comment is cringey, 2 pushes it a bit, but to C3 p-ost's of Star Wars punnage really will make others hope that all us witty punners Vader into obscurity.

I'd reinstate the censored bit in the boat at the end of FRWL - but does it now exist anywhere? When they cut it, did they just bin it? And the camp wave at the end, I'd redo. Lose the strings holding up GF's aeroplane, but really that's about it.

As for NSNA, there is the bootlegged special edition going around, rescored with mostly Barry but some Arnold music. It's okay, sort of watchable, but still not very good even then. You could turn somersaults trying to make that film work, and it still wouldn't.

Ha - imagine in the future they CGI'd Sean Connerys head onto every 007 film - Moore, Brosnan, DC etc for every fllm in the series (with Connerys voice dubbed onto it).

Hell - maybe we could even have all the Bond films in a box set available with your Bond of choice.

You could argue that the films are receiving a silent "Lucas" treatment. I don't own the DVD of A View to a Kill but I've read that the "cleaning" of the film removed the earthquake camera shake when Bond wakes up at Stacey's house. Also, 007 Magazine noted a lot of color changes on the last set of Ultimate DVDs and I believe they are using that work for the Blu-rays. For now at least.

    (Reflecting Mini G's sentiment) +2

Using CGI to redesign / recompose set pieces, de-age actors, re score the themes, etc etc. These tricks are all used together to desperately polish a turd.
When I saw the tidied up original Star Wars, I thought it was mildly clever. (Except the CGI Jabba, and erasing Sebastian Shaw.) It was unnecessary, but fun. Little did I realise it was the beginning of a production mess. Each of the Bond films have become part of the classic catalogue. A reflection of their time, warts and all. New films, with new ideas fair enough. Sometimes it leads to Goldeneye, or Casino Royale-06. Sometimes though QoS! The digital clean up was done to preserve the films, and no doubt new details will be crip and clear on Blueray. That is more than enough.

In other words? Not on your Obi Wan, its Bond's Only Hope. We must crush this CGI Rebellion with one swift stroke!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I don't care about that film enough to care. 8-)

They CGI'd out the camera crew visible in the mirror in the Ultimate TMWTGG!! I purposely own the SE instead.

The only, and I mean ONLY thing I would accept is changing the colour on his diving mask in TB from blue to black after he switches it. In fact, I would love that. But just the colour. :007)

I don't care if you do alterations, so long as you make the unaltered original versions equally as available to view and own. Lucas' mistake is that he stubbornly refuses to release the original theatrical editions due to pride and spite.
