Bond Girl Snubbed for 50th Anniversary

Not sure if anyone on here has picked this up, but I have never seen anyting about it on here yet.

Anyway, The woman who dubbed the voices of Bond girls from 62 - 79, voicing parts in every movie apart from one has been snubbed from appearing at the celebrations. She is called Nikki van der Zyl, and it is said she is not appearing as she may embarrass Shirley Eaton who played Jill Masterson.

Oh that's just so wrong!!! She's an integral part of the movies & Bond HISTORY!! And she doesn't even see royalties!?!?!?!?

She really should be invited and acknowledged. She obviously was important to the productions in the long run if they kept using her for the films.

Unfortunately, voice artists rarely get paid well and certainly don't see much by way of residuals so the financial matters don't surprise me at all. But it is a terrible shame that she has been overlooked for the 50th anniversary events. Perhaps now that this has seen the light of day, Broccoli and Wilson will do the right thing and include her.

I read this story; there was a Goldfinger Day and she got left out; that said Shirley Eaton was integral to the event so it's understandable. Must say, Easton does not come across as wholly unselfeffacing regarding her role in Bond movie history.

It's astonishing how much dubbing went on back then, and how successful it was too. Makes you wish they could dub some of the modern actors frankly. Nikki van der Zyl voiced Sylvia Trench - was that for both movies?

Bondstars, who appears on this site sometimes, was behind the other snub, if you can call it that. You can see why her being around would put noses out of joint though.

Nikki van der Zyl only referred to Shirley Eaton's former cockney accent AFTER she was kicked off Goldfinger Day. It helps fans to understand why the director wanted Eaton dubbed.
Remember Goldfinger was made in 1964 - 48 years ago - and Eaton spoke differently then.

Yes I am joking, but in all seriousness there have been scenes where I believe he mumbles and is hard to understand. I have read some reviews where similar comments have been made.

Yeah, there is the mumbling, sort of makes him a Bond that doesn't care if he's really heard or not. Nice touch IMO.

Shirley made the Doctor and Carry Ons in the 50s, no sign of a cockney accent there - or is Nikki going to lay claim to dubbing her in those too?

And Sir Roger Moore recently withdrew his Foreword for Nikki Van Der Zyl's book as reported in the Evening Standard and Daily Mail. The publisher had to pull the copies - not hundreds as reported, they had only printed 60 review copies with the Foreword (I asked!) and some of those went out before the Foreword was withdrawn. Now, I've got one! I don't know whether to keep it or sell it. It's surely rare, one of only 60 that ever existed, far less than 60 in circulation. Any offers?
The new version minus the Sir Roger Foreword launched on Monday, I've got a copy a hardback and paperback of the new version too - when I enquired via the publishers re getting them signed, I was told that there may be an issue with that version of the book too, it's due to be pulled from Amazon, and they were no longer distributing the title until the issue was resolved.
Seems this book is doomed - does this woman have a vendetta against her I wonder? Someone doesn't want this book out there!
I'm open to offers on all versions of the book. So glad I honed in on this one as a collectable!
