Sorry, but any "James Bond is not black" argument just ain't gonna hold up. It's basically the same thing as the "James Bond is not blonde" argument against DC. No one ever complains about Shakespeare characters being played by people of color, and the same should be for Bond. Granted, I can think of several actors who I would pick for the next Bond way before Idris Elba, but race has nothing to do with it.

No I'm sorry, that's basically a crock of crap. The colour of your skin and your race and culture is in no way shape or form on the same level as the colour of your hair.
No one ever complains about Shakespeare characters being played by people of color, and the same should be for Bond.
I think it's rather cute that you're likening Bond to Shakespeare, good for you. However, Shakespere's works have been rehashed and written through the ages, made into cartoons even and even dear old Leo 'I'ma famlee maan' DeCaprio did a modern twist on it.
In comparison, Bond is something rather unique. Sure, we've got the books by the various writers, and cartoon strips etc. But the important fact is that throughout all of these different incarnations, the lead character, ie Mr Bond has stayed the same colour and ethnicity. Why? Because the character of Bond is so well established that people instantly recognise him, and expect him to be the same guy.
If you honestly think that a black guy playing bond would fly, would you say the same for a woman playing the role? Or are you a sexist misogynist dinosuar, a relic of the cold war, who's boyish looks... hang on. What you're overlooking is that you can change many aspects of a bond film, but the fundamental building blocks should stay the same.
This is not a racist view, it's about maintaining an expected norm. Like I've said before, if the idea of a black secret agent is such a great idea, why turn James Bond black, why not have a stand alone series, hell you could even have them star in a film together, and then the MGM bigwigs could make the stupid suggestion of having a spin-off series, and dress the black guy in a figure hugging ver-sar-chay number and change the ppk for a tomcat....
Granted, I can think of several actors who I would pick for the next Bond way before Idris Elba, but race has nothing to do with it.
Race doesn't, but Bond's appearance certainly does.
Could you see a white guy playing shaft? Or how about a white huggy bear? Perhaps Martin Luther King should be portrayed by Russel Crowe? Or how about a highly factional docu-film on the windrush with Samuel L Jackson playing William Wilburforce saving a bunch of white guys?
Oh and if you don't like any of the above suggestions, including the female bond idea, then that must make you sexist or a racist. Think that sounds a bit heavy? Well that's what happens to all us who think the established appearance of Bond should remain, so have some of that crappy pie back on ya plate.
Sorry, but I have to say this. I think there are several legitimate arguments, pro and con, regarding a Black actor portraying James Bond. This subject has been rehashed here over and over again, and it is clear that opinions about this issue are all over the place. However, I just want to remind folks that even Yaphet Kotto's opinion is just another opinion. Just because he is himself Black and he doesn't agree with the notion of a Black Bond, doesn't mean his views on the subject are more legitimate than anyone else's.
I got my Sean, Tim & Pierce. Time for another person's black version? Whatever, I'd see it. Just make it a good actor in a good movie(s), and they will come. I would as well. Hell, I was against a short blond Bond & look how well that turned out. Anything's possible. -{
I could see Idris Elba as Bond. Bond is an orphan so I don't see a change in his race as that big of a deal with continuity. To my mind the James Bond mold has already been broken with Daniel Craig. He has done a bang up job in the role, but he's still too short, too heavily muscled, and too blonde to reasonably resemble the Bond of the novels. I'm okay with Aryan James Bond so as long as he does the role well I'd be OK with Black James Bond too.
Besides I always liked the theory that James Bond was a title like M or Q. To my mind it explained the drastic differences in Bonds personality. Most notably Dalton's Bond who sticks out like sore thumb as really a bit of a nutcase and sociopath. All the more so being between a geriatric Roger Moore, and a campy Brosnan.
My main issues with Idris as Bond would be:
1. He'd be too old to do many movies.
2. Physically he's little too large for Bond.
My first choice as the next Bond would be Benedict Cumberbatch. I don't see that happening though. Firstly he'd want a ton of money. Secondly the studios have always been against an actor taking other roles while they are Bond and I don't see any possibility of him limiting himself like that.
I may be alone on this one but I think Christian Bale would make an AWESOME James Bond. He may be around the same age as Idris, but with his dedication to the craft I'd wager he could make a convincing Bond well into his 60's.
Someone earlier mentioned a female Bond? Maybe not next but following that? By that time the cold war relic back story will have gone the way of the WWII operator storyline so it'd be possible. The only female I can think of which would be suited to the role would be the chick from the Fast and Furious movies and Avatar. I can't recall her name and I'm not sure if she has the acting chops to lose the Latina and British it up believably?

I could point out so many things to prove most of your points wrong, but I don't think it is worth our time.
The story is like " Jason" from Friday the 13th, it will not die ! )
it will never die because a lot of the idris elba-defenders simply play the "you're a racist"-card so that one gets tired of discussing |)
besides what gets me is that a lot of people want idris elba just for the sake of political correctness.
I've seen it on instagram a lot these people aren't real bond fans they just want to feel important :v
so it makes no sense at all that they are fighting for it so eagerly cause once it would be done they couldn't care less about it anyway
