basically summs up all the ridiculousness about it
but seriously all these demanders they don't live the bond lifestyle, don't have a collection or haven't even seen all the bond films so I think their claim about elba is just out of place since they don't really know what they're talking about X-(
as you can see I am really tired of it )

Let this topic die. It really has dragged on long enough.
So sick of all this who is the next Bond stuff anyway. Is a tabloid safe topic along with how healthy is The Queen and which soap will be the first to implode!
Elba is too well known. As is Cummerbund. Plus who is to say Bond 25 will be Mr Craig's last? If Spectre and 25 do well, he and The House of Eon are happy to carry on, why not? In the end, timing, script, audience requirements and the shaoe if the franchise will have a much bigger influence in who is the next Bond than his height, weight, skin colour, hair colour eye colour or **** colour.
Now PLEASE can we move on?!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
If you're sick of discussions about who'll be the next Bond, I suggest you simply avoid threads like this one
Personally I like these threads and I enjoy taking part in them. Do you seriously suggest a Bond fan forum should stop talking about who should take the series further into the future? That would be like a David Bowie fan forum where no-one discussed how hs next album would be or a political forum where no-one debated who the next president will be. I have no problems understaning why someone gets tired of the discussions, but why read this thread if that's the case?

This is more like, we don't care about David Bowie's next album. What will the album after the one be? Or, we don't care about the next president. Who will be president after that? It can be nice to think about those things, but there's not much to say without even knowing what will come before it.

But many of us DO care. This is a James Bond fan forum after all. Why on earth bother to enter a thread about who will be the next Bond if you are tired of those discussions, let alone post in it about how tired you are of it ?:)
I'm pretty much uninterested in Bond memorablia, so I simply stay away from that forum and let those who are interested have their fun.

Well that's a point. -{
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).
I'm tired, of being tired of the news of others being tired, of being tired of the news,
Of others being tired of the rumours, of the news, of the suspicions of being tired.
From now on I'm only going to be Fatigued, of the speculation.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I don't mind the discussions about the next Bond, it's just that some views get embroiled in race or sex or religion and some of the opinions expressed make me cringe. If we could have a discussion on the merits of an actor without those opinions, maybe more of us would take part (or at least, not face-Palm when we see them).
I haven't seen Elba in anything, I've heard he was good in Luther. It reminds me of how Colin Salmon was touted as Bond at one point, I mean from what I saw there was nothing really of Ian Fleming's Bond about him really, so really it was like he was only being flagged up cos he was black, and the fans were flamed by the official Bond who would be briefed to say 'Oh yeah, that's a great idea...' to avoid 'Bond star in racist storm'... headlines.
For all that, as Craig and his films don't quite ring my bell, I wouldn't say a black Bond would be a problem, I mean the actor just may have something about him, that swagger, a way with the one-liners, a charisma that Craig doesn't have imo.
Something about this thread reminds me of that Steve Martin film. Maybe they missed a trick in introducing Ebla in SPECTRE.
"We've been sifting through the remnants of your old family home... and evidence has emerged that actually... you're black!!!" Camera zooms in on Elba looking astonished
My problem is with continuity. Casino Royale was a reboot and set in modern times. No issue with a black Felix. If they recast with another ethnicity and don't reboot then I have an issue.
If Casino Royale was a reboot set in the 60's I'd also have an issue with a black Felix. It's just not historically accurate.
Idris Elba was excellent in Luther but that does not necessarily mean he would fit Bond. I think he could certainly have a future role (even though there would be the inevitable whining of 'political correctness') but simply picking good actors is not enough. I think that the next Bond actor would have to bring their own edge to it; somebody who could grow into the role but has a lot of potential would be much better than someone who is a solid actor but miscast.

I seriously don't understand that "reboot" idea. Was M in Craig's movies a different character from the M in Brosnan's movies too?

Yes, a completely different character, with the name Olivia Mansfield. Raymond Benson called the Brosnan M Barbara Mawdsley. They have different backgrounds, and Dench plays them quite differently as well.
He looks far too bulky (cant see him pulling off the suits with his frame) and hes starting to look old anyhow!!!
I think a well-cut suit could work for him, as it did for Daniel Craig in QoS. He really is looking too old for Bond, older than Brosnan or Moore in their 40s. He wouldn't have much longevity in the role. I know people love his facial hair, but he'd have to shave it for Bond.
