Would a Bond 'closure' movie ever sit well with anyone?

If a Bond movie were made where he finally comes to terms with his 'broken' nature, where he fights his last big battle with the forces of evil, and retires a reasonably happy man with a 'permanent' Bond girl to help him through it...
Is that something you would enjoy?

Just a "What If" question....

    Not if it means the end of the series.

    I agree, the Bond series has gone on for so long i think fans wouldnt mind seeing a film that brings closure. In fact OHMSS was originaly the last Bond film.

    I almost like the idea of closure for Craig's final film when it happens, but only if they ignore it when the next Bond is cast so that it doesn't stop the series. Batman seems to be heading this direction, with a new Batman getting cast soon but the previous trilogy telling origin to ending.

    I wouldn't mind Craig's Bond getting a send-off similar to Batman especially if he does do 8 films, he would sure damn well deserve one and it would justify a reboot with a new actor playing the character.

    I thought of NSNA as an end to the SC series. I think an end to one Bond than a reboot would work as long as that particular Bond had a long run. If DC completes his 5, and possibly a 6th, (you know the pressure will be on to make a 6th if his 5th is highly successful) I hope his final effort does have some closure for his tenure before moving on to the next young actor.

    Well, in my opinion I like to think of all the bonds as 1. No killing one and making a new one. And a closure film, even if a reboot came after it, would not sit well with me. I like bond as one huge series, and I wouldn't change that.

    Welcome to AJB007, CEOofAwesome, I would say that you brought up a good point. If they killed one and made a new one it would feel like they're inforcing the belief that James Bond is a code name and that they are all different people(i hate that idea) though i would like it if they did some sort of ending for Craig

    From 1962 to 1985 we basically had one Bond that was naturally aging, played principally by two actors of similar age. From 1987 to 2002, another reality was created in which Bond is in his forties in the 1980-90's, not the 1970's. In 2006, reality for Bond was adjusted again. I reject the term 'reboot' as the concept of Bond is never radically changed, just adjusted to the times he is in. Likewise, a closure film would be a story set at the end of his professional career- just before another reality shift for a younger actor to begin a new series of movies...

    Yuk! if the recent Batman template is anything to go by - then I say "Thank you and Goodnight!" to that idea. I think the closest we should get to closure is (ironically) the final scene of QoS. It provides a defining end to Bonds storyline regarding Vesper, but made it clear he was going to carry on doing what he does and is good at. Ironically CR did that in itself and this "add on" wasn't needed, as M's theory was left open fo us in the audience to decide.

    Bond has never needed closure before. To me it would ruin things to have a "final chapter" now. To me it's made a mockery of Batman.
    This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    Not a fan of Nolan's Batman besides the first one, so I see what you're saying.
    Whilst posting on another thread it came to me that OP was a great 'last' mission for an older Bond.
    I guess I'll leave it at that. No supremely happy ending; no death in the field. We can imagine what we will. -{

    It's always been my opinion that the 'batman' thing as already happened to bond. I don't see CR and QoS as prequels but as a new beginning. That's what is happening to movies these days, they are making everything darker and more actiony (<- probably not a real word). Batman is the best example, then there's things like Sherlock Holmes, the Sweeney and the upcoming superman movie Man of Steel. Even Spider-Man got another remake!! So I kind of drew a line after DAD and consider CR as a fresh start!!

    I'm pretty sure that's how they intended it to be. I don't expect another reboot until Bond 41. I read that Michael Wilson wanted to do a reboot with Dalton but Cubby wouldn't hear of it.
