What If Skyfall - Gulp! - Fails!?

SKYFALL appears to be shaping up into an excellent film which should satisfy the vast majority of us fans.

However... At the risk of coming across like the grim harbinger of doom, what do people think will happen if the unthinkable happens & it turns out to be substandard or simply fails to connect with a mass audience?

Will we have EON retreating to lick their wounds, carrying on doggedly with Daniel Craig?

Or will he be unceremoniously dumped in favour of a now bloke & a major rethink of style & approach?

I'd say they'd go for a new actor with an awful long gap until the next production.

That is of course if MGM/Columbia think Bond's still a viable investment in light of a big failure.

I dont think that will happen, there seems to be too many signs that this is a good movie...

but if it did...id COULD potentionally cause a long delay for the next one...

QoS, not exactly the best Bond film ever made, raked in $586,090,727 at the box office, and I think it's safe to say Skyfall will be at least as good a movie, so no worries my friends.

Doubtful. Bond films are critic proof. ..so good reviews can propel a Bond film to greater than expected success but lukewarm or bad reviews can't kill it. Bond films are a tradition, even if people are not hardcore Bond fans, tons of people will go to see the new Bond film because that's what you do. Even Bond box office underperformers like LTK, still managed to turn in a tidy profit despite bad promotion and a horrible summer release date. "Skyfall" appears to have a lot of positive advance word and appears to be a bit more eagerly anticipated which bodes well.

I hope you don't mind me turning the question on it's head a little... If Skyfall is amazingly awesome, do you think DC will turn down his first refusal clause and quit while he's ahead?

He's very professional (seen many quotes of him saying he's very fortunate it's his 'job' and how he doesn't want to get type cast/stuck in a role) I'm a bit worried he might... Any views/opinions?

He might very well pull a 'Dalton' and leave on a good note. He's not getting any younger... but I'm betting he'll do one more at least.

Like said above, Bond movies tend to attract large audiences - it won't fail.
And Craig has stated he'd like to do 1 or 2 more at least, so no worries there either.

He's jokingly said he'll keep doing it as long as they'll have him back. I'm guessing he is at least on board for another one.

Isn't craig contracted to do 4 bond films anyway? So if the worst comes to the worst and it flops, craig would still have to do a 4th anyway to stick with the contract?

So far only 2 of them were type casted as Bond (Connery/Moore) perhaps DC will most likley be the 3rd one :P

Here's a question, still on the same subject, as it is widely acknolwedged that DAD is plain awful, when did you guys realise that the film was going to be a flop? Wasd it when you first saw it? (not trying to hi-jack threads here, sorry Big Tam)

It wasn't a flop, just not very good- there's a difference. My first viewing made me wince, but I had to see it a second time (and a 3rd, actually) to confirm how much it offended me.

Well that doesnt really mean the movie will be great though, the same happened with the Super Mario Bros movie, the trailers were awesome but look how the final product came out.
