If the bond 24 gunbarrel doesn't happen at exactly 24 minutes into the film, with DC wearing a hat, then I'm leaving the cinema and disowning bond forever.

I love the gunbarrel logo & all it represents, though its non-inclusion at the start of SKYFALL didn't bother me as I liked Roger Deakins' opening shot. But something interesting struck me. I've seen the film five times now in five different, fairly packed cinemas. And every time those white dots roll across the screen at the end the vast majority stand up to put coats on, start talking, or otherwise, completely ruining the moment. Very few like me sit there & soak in the gunbarrel graphic. Perhaps its just us stawart few who have such an emotional attachment to it. From my casual observation, the masses just don't appear to care less about the iconography of the image. A shame.

That is very true. The people sitting in front of me stood up and I couldn´t see it properly. That´s about the only reason it bothers me at the end.

In celebration of the release of Skyfall on Blu-ray and DVD, Fox Digital Entertainment has just released the Skyfall Gun Barrel app on iOS. It's an app designed to do one thing and one thing only, to help you shoot your own gun barrel sequence a la James Bond. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, Skyfall Gun Barrel is available now in the App Store for free.

    The FULL article.

Don't the EON producers understand that we want tradition in our James Bond movies? I want that gunbarrell at the start of the movie. I want the circle that bounces around and opens up to the movie. I want my "Bond...James Bond". I want "Shaken...not stirred". I want my Smirnoff Vodka martini. I want my Champagne Bollinger. I wanted my Miss Moneypenny to be British and white. I want my sex scenes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has pet peeves about the gunbarrel not being at the beginning... it throws the whole movie for me. I may as well be watching NSNA. I understand some of the changes, like Q no longer being Major Boothroyd and Moneypenny being black (I think it's EON's way of saying this is a new continuity), but I want the gunbarrel back at the beginning! And no offense to Jeffrey Wright, but Leiter could have been cast as a tall gangly Texan (pre-LALD injuries) and we finally could have gotten HIM right!

And since when has a (first time Bond) director like Mendes been able to essentially say "let's continue to throw tradition out the window... the gunbarrel throws off my opening shot of the film... let's stick it at the end instead of creating a new opening scene."

    1. Dying to know if Jarvio walked out.

2: Moneypenny wasn't British for the first 14 Bond films.

The first Moneypenny was Canadian, wasn't she?
