The parasailing scene in Die Another Day is one of the highlights of the entire series, and the CGI was impeccable and............no wait! Sorry, I blacked out for a second and experienced a bout of temporary insanity! Brought on, no doubt, by all the excitement associated with James Bond Day and the 50th anniversary and all. I'm going to take my medication and lie down now. My apologies, friends!

Oh yes! Derek Meddings' work on the series was outstanding! The miniatures in TND and CR were also amazing. I also love lasers, so GF & TLD were cool!!!

On the positive side of things, we can thank the parasailing scene, because surely they will know better never to make anything that bad again...

I'm all for cartoons, but cartoon aspects mixed in with live action.... this is bond, not roger rabbit )

Learning what went into the climactic battle-scene in MR, that has earned my salute for the best SFX scene in any Bond movie. With the success of Star Wars, the effects guys that include the aforementioned Derek Meddings, borrowed some techniques but also invented some of their own since they did not have at their disposal the advanced optical printers and other equipment that the leading effects houses had. Also, to optically combine multiple effects, the EON team had to meticulously reshoot the effects on the same strip of film, to the peril of damaging it at any point. Even though there are scenes in which the blending was not smooth, or with other discernable miniature work, I am still awed by their "can do" approach.

Yes, beautiful stuff from the same dudes that made the Superman movie FX of the same era.
If ONLY Jaws had remained a bad guy.....!!!
