My own opinion is that that's a bit steep. The ties I sold from QoS were expensive because they are rare, not because I said they were in the movie.
However, I'm sure the price is justified if it can be proven that it was in the movie. If it is true, the price is probably very cheap in fact. But it's impossible to resell it if you don't have proof. It's like selling an open bottle of whisky at auction. You can't, because there is no proof that what is inside is what it is supposed to be.
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?

Simon's very well respected here. I wouldn't doubt the shirts authenticity for a second.

Ah.... I knew there had to be a reason.... Thx Bruno, for clearing that up.
And welcome to the world of film props....
Indeed, as you can see from the auction, a statement from the film producer stating that an item was "in" the film counts for a lot.....
But probably 1% of items carry such "guarantee"
So a lot of research and trust has to make up for the fact, and as such values are a mere shadow of the "authenticated" prices - lets call them retail.
My advice, is if you're just a spiv, looking to make a "turn" on items and have no real passion for owning bond memorabilia, then leave well alone. Stick to "hoarding " retail items until they become rare.
But if you have a genuine passion to own something from the film, then by all means research it to death before parting with hard earned cash, but in the end it'll still come down to trust...

I can testify that this shirt is very rare, and from a high-end designer as well. I do know the # and maker (not at liberty to say, please don't ask) and have been trying to track this shirt down for years. Haven't found 1. For the same price as some non screen used ties have sold on here, I'd say it's justified.
The seam match is exactly the same in each photo; I know some great tailors, but achieving a copy with the exact same print and then lining up the material joins exactly the same as the original would require huge skill.
Unfortunately Greene is a fair amount skinner than me and I don't have a spare grand kicking around, but if he wasn't and I did then I'd seriously consider adding this to my inventory!
Just to add my two cents, Simon is one of the most respected members here. His diligence and dedication to this hobby has resulted in the identification of countless numbers of items worn on-screen, and the reason why many of us are able to wear these items ourselves. I do not doubt this shirt's authenticity nor should any member here. The fact that this shirt comes from Simon's prized collection is proof enough that this is the genuine article.
Kind regards,
Craig

What he said.
Wot he said he said...
And after that auction, I'm advising Simon to double the ask...
I don’t personally collect items like that, and I also do not have any reason to doubt Simon. However, if I were a collector, I’m not sure I would like to pay more than the retail price even for an authentic shirt if it came with no official certification of any kind.
And out of interest – can someone tell us where screen used items of clothing etc. can be obtained from directly?

And given the prices seen recently a great investment....
What's the "status" ?
Washed
Unwashed
Soiled

I don't think any of the Christie's buyers are on here :-/
