Why can't I watch Pierce Brosnan??

Tried watching TWINE last night...i couldn't!!

This is a strange connundrum as my first Bond was GE at the theaters and I absolutely enjoyed each and every PBrosnan flick thereafter...

yet, I can't bear to watch one now...why???
...Brosnan is just not interesting to watch as Bond anymore...watched AVTAK the night before and QOS thereafter and had an absolute blast...what the hell is going on? :s :

Pierce is smooth as silk. Even more than Moore. As rough is back in, Brosnan's Bond may be a bit harder to embrace is all.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Because you dont own the dvds? :p

I think post TD Eon really wanted to convey a mixture of all the elements of the past to create this box office mega Bond and it is arguable that it worked. But imho PB Bonds suffer from a sense of lets throw every Bond moment in a blender turn it on and see what comes out. Every serious moment followed by a silly one.I thought it worked in GE & TWINE but was distracting in TND & DAD both with potential but just to many over the top moments. Their was a consistency, for better or worse, in the SC, RM, & TD films minus DAF & FYEO that I thought was lacking in the PB era. But I still prefer PB era overall to RM especially post MR.

It's strange. Though DIE ANOTHER DAY is undoubtedly silly I never really feel that it is. I credit this to Brosnan whose presence, for me at least does ground it all in a sort of believability for its 120 minute duration. Those who feel the film's a pile of garbage will never be persuaded otherwise & I'm not trying to convert, but to his credit Brosnan plays well against the mounting absurdity.

Always think poor Pierce gets a bit of a rough deal on this forum. He's my second favourite Bond. To me he is a perfect hybrid of SC and RM. He's can convey SCs ruthlessness and RMs charm equally well. His fight with 006 is one of the best in the series.

His movies don't have the depths of DCs but that wasn't his fault it was the producers. He stared in 2 great Bonds - GE and TWINE one OK Bond TND and unfortunately one of the crappest Bonds DAD. But again not his fault he didn't write the script or decide on the direction the movies were to take.

He always managed to rise above the material and never gave a bad performance. He projects suave and debonair in a way DC will never manage.

Well, I sort of agree but then Connery's my fave Bond and I don't like NSNA at all, so it does sort of make a difference if the films Brosnan was in weren't much good. But yeah, he's the whipping boy for the moment with Craig doing it differently.

He's my second favourite Bond as well. Dalton was the first to try to make Bond a feeling human being and not a two dimensional character (Connery's Bond in Dr. No didn't really get there, but that was a time of he-men in the movies), and Brosnan siezed on this as best he could given the scripts he was handed.

for me, brossa was a great bond, he had all the traits of a true bond character in there, and like others have said, he was let down by **** scripts.

GE still remains one of my favourite bond films and was the first i saw on the big screen.

PB is also, apparently a nice bloke in real life.

I've always liked Brosnan as Bond and I agree he was let down by poor scripts (although I think GE and TWINE were pretty decent). Can't say I enjoyed his portrayal more than Connery, Dalton or Craig, but he still managed to do some interesting things with what he was given. And he definitely deserves a lot of the credit for reviving the series after the hiatus following Dalton's departure.

    D'oh!! :p it's all good now!!

...I'm beginning to think it has something to do with his voice...all the other actors have deep strong voices and it seems to add to their toughness...Brosnan was often referred to as a mannequin and his very lean frame and higher pitched voice didnt help perhaps...the movies themselves weren't bad, i actually enjoy DAD very much, I just can't seem to get past Brosnan!

Great to hear! I was going to suggest checking your fuse box next. :))

But seriously, Brosnan was a bit of an "outlier Bond". He's too serious to be Moore, but lacks the edge of a Connery, Craig, or Dalton (I'm of the opinion you can't judge Lazenby one way or the other on the merits of one incredibly-well-done, incredibly-well-written, all-star-cast film that probably would have elevated any Bond actor that played the script straight, including the serious version of Roger Moore we glimpsed in parts of TMWTGG and FYEO).

As I find myself rewatching many of Brosnan's films, I find him a very different type of Bond in that unlike Moore (and this is big difference, I think), he plays practically everything straight/takes himself seriously. I also found myself focusing on the villians and supporting cast more...which is why I really like GE and TWINE (well, minus Denise Richards playing a nuclear physicist), but not TND and certainly not DAD.
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

...very very true, Brosnan took himself very serious...in DAD it was rather funny when Gustave rips his shirt off in the beginning of the sword fight scene, and then Brosnan does the exact same thing, except Brosnan's got a tshirt on to hide his lack of musculature, but his frown was just as intense as Gustave's!
...this scene would of been better if Brosnan had taken his sweet time removing his shield...would of made it less awkward...

...and may i also add that Brosnan had the worst running style? i hate to say it but he really looked like a girl when running...thought that even when Brosnan was my fave... :))

I have always said this. Brosnan is my favorite Bond. He has the charm, handsome enough that I could see him seducing women, and still had this serious look that led me to believe he was skilled and capable of killing someone. He had a confidence that seemed like it was founded.

He, too, use to be my favourite Bond for a little awhile, I think he looks the best, suave as well as able to kill you in cold blood. Brosnan was looking a bit old I thought in DAD

Think about it- did he appear old with his Robinson Crusoe look? No. He looked old when they buzzed his hair & didn't colour it.The Broz is a hair-guy. Cut it all off over his ears & he just looks ancient. :007)
