Seriously though guys, granted the Globe-Trotter "whatever" is a clever bit of kit but the Glock 17 based Magpul 9mm would have equally fitted the bill & would perhaps be slightly more believable for Bond's 50th Anniversary outing with the outward appearance of a radio cassette or laptop. It's inspiration being the Russian Tokarev folding weapon which even came equipped with a dummy aerial to complete the illusion of a consumer product. -{
But then you miss out on the homage angle, remember its a vague nod to something we have seen before...
The previous disguised-put-together-assassin-weapon prop was not a real world object, it was a totally created item using the look of a luxury goods company as its disguise, and this follows that to a tee. To give its user 3 nipples would have been too obvious To have made it a real world piece would have lost that entirely.
An ohh-so-subtle reminder of its distant cousin, aimed largely at Bond fans, that will probably be unnoticed by the average movie-goer ... and one of many, which is a brilliant 50th birthday gift for fans we think. Effort and subtlety you only get from Bond!

Well you've revealed more here than I would have )
So you guys planning to replicate the item in question?

Ha... well we is nice peoples, or tries to be ;-)
We want to, believe me we REALLY want to, but at this time there are some complex legal/copyright issues that need addressing, so today no its not in our potentials list. We are working on some less problematic Skyfall pieces right now.
No mate. FE do not produce wooden 2 dimensional products
Now Eva Green & I'll grab me flexible friend!....lol )
But he says it's from Skyfall, so it can't be the delicious Eva. That means if it's not Berenice it must be Naomi or Judi Dench!
The worst thing is that in some dark and terrible part of the interwebs... such things are probably available Probably, I have not looked, honest I haven't.
Lets just say for example, through a known contact you were able to obtain one of these from an official distributor at a discount of around 65-70%, it would still cost around GBP1600, but would people views then change in relation to the pricing idiocy and collectability of this particular item?
My understanding was that this isn't an off the shelf product, sure it doesn't convert into the gun used, but is limited to only 100 globally and trimmed in a way completely different to anything else the firm offers, including a replica of the gun sight used in the film that was developed by Globetrotter in conjunction with the studio.

It's nothing like the screen used case. Even the handle isn't a 100% accurate realisation.
It's actually nothing new for Jim Bond, a folding rifle. Back in 1997 for the Tomorrow Never Dies pre-titles sequence Brozza found himself with a custom sub machine gun. Anyone ever wonder where he got it from? Simple answer is it folds down into the size of a cigar humidor which he takes from inside his leather combat jacket & unfolds it in a matter of seconds. The scene was filmed with three different weapons to achieve the reveal & firing effect but did not make the final cut & looked a damn sight more believable than Patrice's Globe-Trotter Megatranny
This folding rifle discussion reminds me: Any idea what this gun is about and which film it comes from? It's on display as part of Exquisitely Evil in the International Spy Museum in DC and the only item in this particular case for which there's no citation.

That's Patrice's rifle from SKYFALL. Exactly the object we are discussing.
Any idea what car is it behind the gun? It reminds me of Bumblebee but I'm not entirely sure. It's definitely a Chevy anyway.
)
On a serious note though, one thing is still bothering me - if he had an ammo cap with bullets in the case it would never make it trough airport security, no matter in how many pieces the gun has been folded in the case.

What's not to say he picked it up when he arrived in Shanghai?

I believe that there's a deleted scene in the airport where Severine delivers the case with the weapon. Am I misremembering?
My bad! I thought he arrived with it on the airport, I feel like and idiot - especially after watching Skyfall around 10 times :<
I'm wondering why they deleted this scene however. And I'm also curious when (if at all) are they going to release a special edition Skyfall BluRay with deleted scenes included. Since they haven't done it with QoS I think it's unlikely

They've probably learned a thing or 2 from Lucas and are saving it for a future Extra Special edition after they sell all the Blu Rays they've already produced.!

Has anyone actually seen one?
The case made for the film wasn't an off the shelf product, it was specially made.
