Well we all know that the 50th Anniversary blue ray set does not include Skyfall but there is a space for it when it's available but for me the real shocker is the 50th Anniversary CD compilation album which does not include Skyfall either....how's that for a repackaged money spinner? As a 2 CD set they've packed out the second disc with odd tracks from various 007 OST's including one or two very odd selections: The experience of Love by Eric Serra (Goldeneye OST), Only Myself to Blame & the unforgettable Make it Last all Night by Rage (FYEO OST). You do however get 50 tracks...where's my bucket? :s

    I think including all the additional vocal tracks on the second makes sense, especially Only Myself to Blame because of it's inclusion so much in the score. Some of the incidental tracks make little sense. I would have chosen Dawn Raid on Fort Knox for Goldfinger instead of Into Miami. It's very easy to understand why Skyfall is not on there: competition. They're pushing the single and want to sell it that way. Also, the release of this compilation would most likely have been delayed if they wanted to wait for the Skyfall theme.

    Fair point but no 007 Anniversary album has surpassed the originality of the 2 CD 30th Anniversary edition but for something to be a true 50th Anniversary Edition Skyfall should have been included which as you say may have effected Adele's sales but I seriously doubt it as there are many like myself who will buy the OST with her track on it or a compilation such as this but do not like her track enough to purchase it as a single or download. Let the Donk bashing begin. :)

    It's very likely the makers of this CD set tried to get it and Adele's producers or someone else wouldn't allow that, or this whole thing may have been completed long before Adele was even chosen for the song. The 30th Anniversary CD was great because of all the previously unreleased music.

    I had the heads up unofficially that she had the gig from an on set source 9 months ago :)

    Do you know when this project was finished? I'm sure it was before Adele recorded.

    Sorry that info I do not have. I'm more hooked on Shirley Bassey's, David Arnolds & Don Black's No Good About Goodbye 3 years late -{

    I remember when that song came out. It should have made it to this compilation, if not the film. Of course, the studio wanted a song with more hit potential. All of Arnold's Bond songs are great, except You Know My Name. That one never did much for me, though it's far from the worst.

    I'd agree that Chris Cornell is not an obvious choice for a Bond song but with Daniel Kleinman's fantastic fast paced titles You Know My Name works plus its a nudge nudge wink wink to "You Know the Name You Know the Number", it also set the pace for Casino Royale & does make an instrumental appearance during the movie accompanied by a Ford Focus and Sony Ericsson product placement :)

    I do like how it was incorporated into the score, as all of Arnold's own main themes were (whether or not they made it to the film). That's the way it should be, as John Barry always did it. The titles were cool, but I don't see that as having any effect on the song. I listen to film music as I listen to any other music. That's why I'm one of the few people who likes the Never Say Never Again score.
