Anyone looking for a budget alternative to the C&J Tetbury boots, I just picked up a pair of these today: http://www.zappos.com/johnston-murphy-suffolk-plain-toe-boot-black-full-grain

They're the Johnston & Murphy "Suffolk" plain-toe boot. Very comfortable, very stylish, and much easier on the wallet than the Tetburys (I got them for $160 plus tax). They're also built with an "XC4" system, which means that they're waterproof, although the saleswoman recommended I coat them with protective spray every month. I own several pairs of J&M shoes, and have yet to be disappointed. For anyone who wants a good pair of Skyfall-style dress boots, I highly recommend the Suffolk!

FYI the Banana Republic corduroy pants are on sale and then there's another 40% off through the 7th. I just got a pair of 36/34 for about $20.

Guys, any place in the UK online or instore sells henleys? I'm going to get in contact with All Saints as I was going to buy the Burnett henley reduced in the sale to 22.50, but they're now sold out and I wouldn't pay 45 that AS are looking if I could get a cheaper alternative. I had one in my basket on Friday at the reduced price, was going to buy it on Saturday, but something came up, and I didn't get online to buy it. Please reply if you know anywhere that sells good henleys as I say, gutted to miss now on the one in the sale.

Try Sunspel. They also have the Bond connection too! I've been happy with the shirts I've bought from them.

Thanks UNCLE27, as you say, they have the Bond connection too. :) I do see their white Henley is 58 pounds though, even more expensive than AS, but I'll see-like I say, it was just gutting when I could have got the same brand as in Skyfall for half price. I may still buy a Bond henley at some point-whether through All Saints or Sunspel.

Saw the link for it, however the rear part is very different. Vents, zippers, no hood... The trim on the rear part of the sleeves is also AWOL.

    How's the fit?

I bought a black pair of these in the sale - the bitter chocolate ones are so dark they might as well be black. They fit really well, good quality, the wife likes 'em too :))

For all those searching for a cheap lodge boot alternative......Found an AMAZINGGG pair of Brogue boots, almost identical to the crocket pair, same colour and exceptionally quality leather. only difference is minimal, slightly and i mean slight difference on the top of the boot where the holes pattern doesn't go straight up but tapers around the rim of the top of the boot. I am in Italy at the moment, it was a local store, great fit, good italian leather and workmanship and only 150 euros so about 120 pounds! Going to probably get a pair on Monday. If anyone interested let me know before Monday and I will get you a pair!

    Hey AJB'ers.

Just a shutout for Alec (alphaagent), he's truly a class act. He worked very hard to get me a set of these alternative skyfall lodge boots, unfortunately, the italians made it impossible to export the shoes (and I suspect pretty much everything else). After a few back and forth PMs, sent paypal payment and he couldnt get the italian post to ship out the boxes. They were asking for a certificate of manufacture stating that the shoes were not made of dodo or polar bear or something, and since italian manufacturers do not provide those certificates, italians cant export their own products. And thats why Italy is almost brankrupt.

Anywho, thanks Alec, you're top notch chap.

    LOL Thanks Joab

your welcome, I am sorry it never worked out in the end. for the others to cut a long story short, it seems any goods that are clothing shoes etc have a very tight regulation for border control between Italy and the US, half because of counterfeit goods and half because of illegal trade of illegal materials such as rare or extinct animals. If you are intending to send anything like this (and I had marked the shoes as gift) then you must have a certificate stating what kind of material they are made off! Just in case anyone is travelling through Italy and sees something that looks Bond like and decides to ship it to a fellow member in the states. Funny thing is I sent some of the cufflinks out today and no problems. incidentally they said if i sent the shoes regular post I could and they didn't need any documents...but it would have no tracking number nor insurance. God bless Berlusconi!!!

Stopped by Kohls yesterday... a while back I snagged a really decent color match for the lodge sweater.. good dull teal.. not too blue.. not too green... falls just about right.. only problem is that is is a V-Neck... but yesterday I looked at their cords... check out these :
    http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1050461/sonoma-life-style-straight-fit-corduroy-pants.jsp

They have a dark brown... although.. while looking through the Bond on Set book.. his cords just don't look very brown to me.. could be the lighting in the photos... but they are so dark as to almost appear a deep grey... Especially the photo of him in the doorway holding the long gun... I almost like those above linked cords in the "combat grey" color more for matching that image.... and at 25 bucks I will likely just get the grey and the brown ones anyway...

I think the choco's are a bit more close to the actual color, now like you said, it is a darker shade, but hue looks about the same

There are different shades of brown, and that can affect how the cords look - especially under different lighting conditions. I was surprised to see that the Barbour jacket was really an olive green after the very first picture I ever saw of it made it look brown.

It seems to me that Bond's cords have a "purple-ish" tinge to the brown that can make them look black or even a very dark grey under certain conditions. I actually like this shade of brown for pants as it means that they can go with just about any colour of top, although this type of brown is not as common. It looks like the brown cords on this site are just...brown.

The Banana Republic cords that a couple of people had mentioned had that purple-ish brown colour to them but the fit was terrible - typical North American chain store fit. :-(

Thought that UK residents may be interested in this jumper that I came across today - looks very close to the N.peal one, but considerably cheaper! The actual colour was darker in store than in the photograph!
