What a find , surpising how Old Navy had so many similar Bond looks

My concern would be that in my experience Old Navy's clothes are huge compared to other chains' sizes. Mind you, I haven't been there for a while but the last time I looked the shirts run huge through the body and the pants legs are huge. I did try a pair of "slim fit" pants on and they were a little better but still far from what most people would consider slim fit.

However, things may be different now. I used to have the same problem with The Gap and their slim fit clothes really are slim fit now.

Will someone who bought the Barbour alternative post fit pictures and body measurements?

    I will do.

    I'm 5 ft 11", 38" chest and 32'' waist and I purchased a Medium, the fit is perfect, I wouldn't fit into a Small.

....same. I went to Old Navy on Black Friday because their peacoats were about $19.99, and I was considering buying one as a "beater" coat. I tried on a size small, and the body fit like a sack. Mind you, I'm 5'11 and fairly athletic/muscular, but size SMALL fit like a sack!

I'd appreciate that. I'm the same height as you with a bigger chest and slightly smaller waist, so if it fits you in the body, it should probably fit me. How much hem is there in the sleeve? I'll probably have to let the sleeves out.

There is just over an inch from what I can tell, 38R suits arms are usually a bit short for me so you should be ok.

Pics below are worn with just a white t-shirt in two, and a blue merino wool jumper (fairly thin) in one.

I've not ordered from this brand before, but they offer tab collars with French cuffs, might be an inexpensive option under your suit? I don't see tab collars at retail shops in the States too often.

No wax effect, it's a lighter weight jacket.

I'm a 15 shirt, 34.5 arm and have a medium, I'd say you should be fine in an M.

I got mine on sale at Barbour by Mail.

Or google Barbour Stock Jacket Olive, happy hunting :)

the sweater is Calvin Klein sportswear men's tipped merino crew neck sweater in blue fin at Macys on sale for $29.99! I cant provide a link as they dont seem to be on their website but they are definitely at the store. The color is a tad lighter than in my pics and makes a great N. Peal alterative.

These run slim. Im wearing a medium but fits like a small.

The white henley is just something I had in my closet and the pants are a pair of Levis 511 cords that I custom dyed. (My iggys are coming today so will definitely have those all dyed up and ready once my Lodge jacket arrives next week).

The boots are the stafford camlins. These are fresh out of the box. Plan to do a distressing job with black dye as featured here

believe it or not these were the LAST pair they had (the showroom model). I believe production has ceased on these which is a bummer. Got them for $40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(note: these run at least a half size large. Im a 10, and these are a 9.5 and I still have a tiny smidge of room).

I have trawled the Internet for a lodge alternative that is not only a lot cheaper but also retains the feeling of Bond 'uniqueness' if that makes sense.... I REALLY think you guys should check out this alternative Barbour:
    http://m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/Barbo … id=1759799
It's a slim-fit waxed jacket, which are almost impossible to find, plus it has Bond-sequence lapels so the fit and styling are bang-on Bond, if not exactly like the lodge jacket. Sold out in a few shops but I googled 'Barbour true fit waxed blazer' and got one for £110. It's being delivered soon so if anyone cares ill put up some pics of something. Hope this helps!

    $114 shipped

Still, it looks odd with those lapels and the fabric on them.

I bought this jacket at the Barbour outlet in Freeport Braintree in Essex -it's fantastic and the style is very close to the Tokito at a fraction of the price. I'm really pleased with it. Will post photos!

    Thanks!

As for the 511s, they fit slim. I suggest ordering your true waist size. The iggys fit almost the same in terms of leg fit.

yes, the color actually looks spot on in real life (the pics are darker). For $30 i dont think you can beat it!

Yeah, that's a really solid budget alternative outfit. Are you planning to actually where it someplace?
  • ReturningsonReturningson Posts: 560MI6 Agent
no, I buy all the stuff and place it in storage :))

its nice for the money. The blue sweater is a little flamboyent for my muted tastes but a great layering piece. The cords and the boots and the scarf are and can be everday wadrobe staples.

Hello guys! Long time lurker, first time poster. Loved reading the forum over the past few months, seems to be the best, most resourceful site for Bond news and info around, but I'm sure I'll properly get stuck in with the chat in good time :) however...

Octofanny & Charmed & Dangerous, I have a question or two.

I'm really looking to get my hands on a Barbour jacket and the "truefit waxed" jacket seems like a practical and affordable alternative to the to ki to.

Before I take the plunge and order (as an early b-day gift for myself :P ) what is the sizing like on this piece? I know this is a bit of a hot topic when it comes to Barbour, but even though I've seen the jacket is listed as a tailored fit, I've seen some sites where the model is a standard large and is wearing a large size jacket; others where the model has a 36" chest and is wearing a medium(?)

I'm 5ft11" with a 34" waist and a 40/41" chest. Standard mediums normally fit me, but I wanted to be on the safe side as this is a smaller fitting jacket, I believe. What options did you go for? Any help would be much appreciated. I like the look of this jacket because it's kinda timeless, it doesn't look too farmer-ish and you could wear it out in town, plus it looks adaptable for winter or summer wear.

    Cheers! -{

96nm12 you have crushed my dreams by finding the same jacket for £40 less! Oh well; I think the lapels lend it some Bond credibility... Functional barbour waxed cotton but still space for a bit of formality! Ill whack some pics up when I get it!
