Dr nowt, I saw that picture of the 36'' chest man with the M on and knew a S would be no good for me; I am 5'11, 180lbs chest 40'' so similar to you... I went for medium because I am a 32'' waist and figured ill just fill the M out more than that thin model... Hard to say which you should get because you're bigger than me, medium may be perfect and you'll fill it out like DC or it may be a bit too small.... I guess I'd go for large as it is slim fit, can always return it if its not right ! Also use 92's link as its so much cheaper! Hope this helps

It's worth mentioning that I haven't got mine yet, ordered it the other day... If you like I'll try it on some mates and let u know? Up to you

http://www.barbourjacketstyles.com/barbour-truefit-waxed-jacket-men-p-552.html please let me know your opinions as I lo e it and can't wait for its arrival... I KNOW it's not a perfect likeness, it's just such a bond-sequence jacket for a quarter of the price, still a Barbour and looks darn cool!

Would be interested to know if anyone has ever bought from here http://www.barbourjacketstyles.com/barbour-truefit-waxed-jacket-men-p-552.html as the prices seem too good to be true and the site is fall of spelling mistakes and typos and there's no phone no.

96nm12 you have crushed my dreams by finding the same jacket for £40 less! Oh well; I think the lapels lend it some Bond credibility... Functional barbour waxed cotton but still space for a bit of formality! Ill whack some pics up when I get it!

Sorry about that mate, can you not return the original one or ask them to price match?

Ill keep you posted as I have bought from this website and only noticed the awful spelling/confusing payment structure when it was too late lol ill let you all know if its legit otherwise I've been scammed hard :s
  • ReturningsonReturningson Posts: 560MI6 Agent
yeah that site doesnt seem legit. Whenever you have the brand name in the sit heading (like Belstaff Jacket styles, Barbour jacket styles etc) thats a MAJOR red flag. Also the spelling and just general site structuring all lead me to believe you have been scammed. :#

Thanks for the help, Octofanny! (great name!)

I would really appreciate it if you could give me the lowdown when you get the jacket. It also looks darker in some pics than it does in others too, not that I mind, Bond's is a murky green/muddy kind of colour too.

That site looks good where it says the total price is about 70 quid, and it claims to offer worldwide shipping, but my fear is that if I get the wrong size, I'll have to pay over the odds just to send it back to them, (if they are indeed in America) or see if someone wants to trade/buy...really hope you haven't been scammed with that first site you found :( I checked it out and it looked alright, there were lots of reviews talking about how good the service was, but these can be faked as we all know. As I say, hope it turns out OK.

I'll wait patiently and see what your reviews are like...

How much are they going for in Freeport, does anyone know? (Charmed & Dangerous??)

I'd also like to post something that I found today on my travels. Went into Edinburgh Woolen Mill to see if they had any decent lodge jumpers, I was looking for a colour that verged on teal rather than blue, and this was pretty much perfect.

The good news is it was only £15 but I found one on a sale rack for a tenner! It's acrylic but the stitching is exquisite, feels really well made and fits like a dream. I'm normally a medium, but even the small fit me well. A little too well, as I prefer comfort rather than looking so screen-accurate, and as EWM is more of a "old gents" kind of shop, the sizes tend to be generous anyway.

Definitely advise anyone looking for a well-made but affordable lodge jumper at a fraction of the price of the N Peal one to track this down! It's by James Pringle and the colour is "aqua"

(the colour is actually a lot more subtle than this, has to be seen in person to be appreciated)

In the words of Columbo, one final thing!...

Anyone looking to get some glasses like Q's but don't fancy pimping out a pair of Uniqlo's, then these are a great alternative
    http://www.specsavers.co.uk/glasses/mens-glasses/red-or-dead-83/

I've ordered myself a pair (not because I'm a completist, I genuinely need to wear glasses everyday anyway, and the time has come for me to get some new ones) and I've been a customer at Specsavers for years.

They even have the little silver rivets on the rim, just like Q's. Very nice.

Just to keep anyone interested posted, I have delivery confirmation and tracking this jacket from the above website... Please WAIT if you wana try and get one because its obviously a knock-off (read the website it is HILARIOUS) but when it gets to me ill upload pics and let you know if its on any way worth a punt due to its cheap price. Besides, a cheap and cheerful version would be easier to replace when you blow up your family home to defeat your enemies!

I'm 6'1", 32" waist, roughly 38-40 chest. The jacket's a size L - it's a perfect length, but a little roomy all over. As with the Tokito (from what I've read here) it's closer in the shoulders and looser in the waist.

I'm in Freeport again tomorrow so if I see any in the Barbour outlet, I'll put details up here in case anyone else is interested. At the time I bought mine, just before Christmas, it was £174 - but they only had one L and one XL.

For what it's worth, here's a run-down of my outfit:

    Coat - Barbour Truefit
Cords - Banana Republic, black slimfit, £20
Jumper - Gap, Teal Cotton Cashmere, £20 in the sale (£30 at the moment)
    Henley - Superdry, £30
Scarf - Debenhams, brown herringbone, about £12
    Boots - model's own :))

Yes just a bit too big, I could have done with a medium, ad will really need to get the large tailored.

    Lovely outfit, Charmed! -{

I really really like that jacket. If you do get the chance, tell me how much its going for in the shop you bought it from, I doubt it'd be on sale now as we're in February, but still worth a shot.

It's probably the best alternative to the Tokito jacket, plus its a Barbour anyway, so only the purists would know the difference!

Anyone know where you can get these jackets from online???

Yeah but still, it looks the part you know. You can easily get it tailored and when you do it will look great. I honestly wear my barbour with any pair of jeans, very similar budget version of the crocket and a jumper, it doesn't have to be exact. But great job on sourcing all the different pieces.

I had a look in the Barbour outlet in Freeport yesterday but they didn't have any left, the only Barbours they had which were remotely similar were a navy version of the Stock jacket, and a tweedy brown/green Barbour, both of which had blazer style lapels like the Tokito.

If you look at Octofanny'S earlier post he has bought one online and is awaiting delivery...

Thats a real shame about the jacket not being available now, damn. Don't suppose you'd want to sell yours to me would you? :p I'll take the shirt off your back whilst I'm at it!

The tweed-style coat sounds ok. How much was that, can you remember?

I'd love to take the plunge and get the jacket you've got, Charmed, from one of those online retailers, but I just don't trust them enough. Probably best to buy in-person, as you did, so you can see what you're getting...

Dr. Nowt, if it helps ill let u know what happens with mine; I've taken a gamble and ordered from barbourjacketstyle.com (might be a bit dodgy) but if the coats are decent ill let you know...? I've got a barbour bedale but its just not the same so I feel it's worth a cheeky gamble

That's cool mate I know they're not the real deal, just want to see what the quality is like to be honest! The barbour 'made in England' spiel is all lies now anyway; I am just testing to see if these jackets are made to a good standard (if not in the same sweatshop!) as the to ki to is too pricey and the true fit seems to have vanished from this earth! I've got a brand new barbour bedale but its just not the same; might try and trade it somewhere
  • ReturningsonReturningson Posts: 560MI6 Agent
yeah, you wont get anything close to quality. Sites like these might not even send your anything and just be a total waste of time. But anything could happen.

To be honest as long as it looks the part I hardly care; I paid for a new barbour and don't really care for it so I'm not really hung up on the brand... The right shape would do for that price! Ill let you know what happens over the next few days... If its awful ill put a pic up to warn people and if its decent (long shot) ill put it on here... Just can't believe there's NOWHERE on the Internet that you can buy either of these bloody jackets, but you can get those crap 'Barbour international' padded turds anywhere

You should look up the thread by the guy who ordered the counterfeit leather jacket in the hope that it would just "look the part." It's a "lawl-worthy" read.

WHAT A VULGAR QUESTION! Haha no it's fine, muggins paid £110 so we shall have to see if its a disaster. Just bought this genuine one from eBay http://www.dealclick.co.uk/product/13580913/Joe-Casely-Hayford-for-John-Lewis-Wax-Cotton-Jacket,-Olive,-XL.html which looks pretty sweet so at least ill put pics of that up... What about this as an alternative?

Saw one in a local menswear shop yesterday, it's a new item, and looks really good in person. Hefty price tag though
