Went to kohls, but that particular store did not have the peacoat

A member mentioned going to kohls and checking out the peacoat there... while you are in the store look at their sweaters.. unfortunately the one I found is only in a v neck, but it is an excellent color match for the lodge sweater.. in hand the color looks exactly like the NPeal website photo of the actual sweater.... on the kohl's site their color looks more vibrant as it appears in screen shots of the movie sweater.. regardless.. good "close enough" for about 20 bucks..

I bought that h&m peacoat yesterday and it us a good jacket. Got mine for £30. Well worth it.

I love mine too. I wore mine last night while seeing Skyfall again.
Def pick one up. Just a few sizes remaining. Try the Trafford Centre.
Just to point out 90% of the staff are crap and if you ring up to reserve something
they just say the don't have it stock.... when the actually do!
This happened with my peacoat and enjoying death shirt.

Anyone identify a nice alternative to the long TF overcoat (from London scenes)?

Figured it's a pretty standard looking coat where I can avoid dropping ~$3,500 or however much the TF one costs.

Sure Banana / J.Crew / etc. have one but haven't had the time to rummage through myself and wasn't sure if you guys had already identified anything better. Thanks!

ok, ive done alot of research on the acne trousers and spent some time trying to fund budget alternatives because nearly $300 for a pair of trousers is insane (if they were tom ford then a different story). Anyway, i went to several US retailers trying to find what should have been an easy thing-a pair of grey sharskin trousers. H&M carried a grey pair but they had a "sheen" that didnt really matched Acnes. Express had a reall great pair but several details were off (flap covered back pockets) as well as having a roomier fit. Finally i went to Zara yesterday and they had a pair that matched almost 99%. The fabric (a polyster-viscose) matches the originals almost perfectly as well as having the same hue and slight shine. They fit in a slim (but not trendy slim) fit and have almost all of the correct details, down to the pick stiching on the pockets. They are missing the side waist adjusters and have a buttom tab front but at $80, they simply cannot be beat. I dont see them currently on the website yet but they are in the stores.

they are slightly darker in real life but i did the best i could with my camera.

This topic is a great subject and congrats to all who have diligently searched for affordable alternatives. To be honest, I do not doubt that James Bond himself would appreciate the options as well, considering the fact of his military background and his government grade paycheck, not to mention his choice to walk away from his well-healed manor, Skyfall. I would assume that Bond would wear that which is comfortable and familiar to him as he goes about fulfilling his rather difficult job description. An assassination is challenging enough without worrying about that ugly blood stain on the collar. A military grade Pea-Coat would make more sense than a Tom Ford, and the real ones are nearly bullet-proof! Considering the fact that Clark's was the first company to bring the Chukka to the market in the post war era, Bond would be more aware of that brand than Church's upscale model. He would also be wearing a genuine Baracuta G9 (AKA Harrington) -unchanged since the 1930's- rather than a Ford model. Wouldn't he be actually wearing a standard issue black military V-neck "Rolly-Polly" wool jumper (with or without epaulets) at the bar rather than a John Smedley? None of these modest options would deny his authentic British identity and origins, but would be much more practical and realistic than a $2,000.00 alternative. Bravo to Skyfall for introducing a Barbour (albeit the designer infused one) into his closet. As for his Omega (and the earlier Rolex), there is no question that those are both long standing equipment choices for those in the military/ Law Enforcement field. A well-dressed man in a world of mediocrity is extremely attractive to those of us yearning for a classic clothing landscape in our day to day lives. But let us not allow the fantasy of haute couture to interfere with the real opportunity to appreciate what a fellow like Bond would really wear, and thus, what WE can really wear. Do keep this Topic going; this is the True Bond.

I picked up his Calvin Klein coat at Macy's. The material is terrific. It is not the typical wool blend. The pockets are off but it has a nice collar that is not too tall....it is just right. Outstanding quality for the money.

Thanks Don. If you go to my portfolio and then to The Rebel you'll see behind the scenes
on making my 007 inspired music video.

    H&M for the shirt.
If you're a M buy a S. Everything at H&M is one size too big!

Add to my list the training top. I almost forgot about that!
I purchased one without the MI6 logo so I could design my own on photoshop
    and get it embroided.

We could do with making a master list of all the budget altenatives
with links to websites and phone numbers to stores etc.

Yep, bought this shirt yesterday myself. At £20.00 you can't go wrong.

However, I feel that after Skyfall, there will be a revival of formal tab collar shirts in the new year from other mainstream high street shops.

All the best from a distressed and p*ssed off Arsenal fan,

Just came from H&M and bought the budget alternative Peacoat. It's niiiiiice. It's a bit different from the image they have online. It have a ribbed collar attached but it's not too distracting. Overall the length of the coat resembles the billy Reid coat. I'm very satisfied with it

Just tried on and bought this pullover from Banana Republic. Having tried both this and the Smedley, it's not a bad substitute! About the same length, a little more room in the torso and arms. Additionally, it's in stores for ten less than the sale price on the site - $39.90.
