Just came from H&M and bought the budget alternative Peacoat. It's niiiiiice. It's a bit different from the image they have online. It have a ribbed collar attached but it's not too distracting. Overall the length of the coat resembles the billy Reid coat. I'm very satisfied with it

Excellent. I went through literally hundreds of coats online and the H&M one was the closest I could find.
Is it still on 50% off? When I got mine it was 30% off and I got one for myself and my brother.
I have a black v neck jumper from Burtons that was £20 that goes nicely with it.

I've been looking at suits today. What do we all agree is the best budget alternative for Bond's Skyfall suit in the pre-title sequence? My dad wants to buy me something for my birthday tomorrow and I would like a new suit... preferably a 007 one. :))

Well you could do baron boutiques version of Skyfall suit. Not sure if they have PTS suit. As regarding the H&M jacket, mine is a lil different than the one they have online. Not sure if anyone went through the same thing I did. My coat doesn't have the flap pockets. And it has one more set of buttons than the one they have online. It also has notch lapels along with ribbed zip up collar attached. Also non-vented. I'm still pleased with it and it is the closest I can find. Like I said I'll post pics soon

Kaleema007 there are two types of peacoat at H&M that are very similar.
It sounds like you picked up the other version that's not quite as close.
The coat that is more similar has pocket flaps, no buttons on the wrist sleeve and no zip.
The only real difference is the leather under the collar and the leather under pocket flap.s which I'm having fitted to mine.
There were just a few left in Manchester when i was there a few days ago.
If you're after the other one and you're in the UK and get stuck and need help call my number after midday tomorrow.
Contact info is on my website on my signature.

    Cheers

I have the black Banana Republic sweater and it is extremely nice. Also picked up a turquoise crew neck sweater from BR and happy with that as well.
(They are having random sales for the next couple weeks so keep an eye out, I got mine for 40% off)

I pulled the trigger on the Johnston and Murphy Hattington wingtip boot the other day and am very pleased with the quality, fit and comfort. I may take them back for another size but they are definitely worth the money in my opinion. Plus it's finally heading towards winter and a nice boot is never a bad idea.

Johnston and Murphy has a black boot that is kind of similar to the Crocket and Jones Tetbury called the Halford Chukka. However, it is not a nice grain leather, it is more grainy. I picked up the Newell Boot and although it is not as similar visually as the Halford, it is way cheaper and is a very quality boot that is surprisingly comfortable.

edit: Johnston and Murphy also carries a boot called the Suffolk plain toe boot that looks similar, however I did not try this one on. This particular boot is waterproof for those who are concerned with that.

If anyone is still looking for the H&M Enjoying Death shirt, check with the stores in King of Prussia, or call the H&M 1-800 number and they can tell you which stores near you have it, had it, or are supposed to get it. The only downside is they don't show an actual on-hand quantity so you have to go check or call the store.

H&M also has a plain grey scarf for those of you trying to get the London rooftop outfit.

    Tom Ford Marko alternative -

VonZipper Berko - $109ish, similar look but no blue lenses. If these are anything like the VonZipper wayfarer style glasses I have, they are very well made and have insanely clear lenses

edit: also found a similar style to the QoS Tom Fords

Are you having the large collar shortened on yours when you add the leather pieces?

Probably not. Just adding the leather I think.

Gotta shorten those collars, that's what separates it from being just another peacoat.

These aren't really that close to either style. But I still kinda like the VonZipper rectangle shape better than the actual Marko shape, which I thought were too big on Craig's face.

Hi guys I've just back from Manchester for my birthday meal and I've found another
cool alternative for the Enjoying Shirt and an budget alternative for Q cardigan (which I purchased for a friend who is doing a full Q costume).
Will do full report in the morning. I have photos for you to see!
  • NeverSayDieNeverSayDie Posts: 495MI6 Agent
    Morning all!
I'm awake now to do a full report.
So I was in Manchester city centre yesterday in Primark and in the
corner of my eye I spot a very good alternative to the H&M alternative to the Zara Enjoying Death Shirt. Possibly need to change the buttons.
Here is a link to a photo: http://instagr.am/p/S9QiwCkF-7/
Close up of the tag: http://instagr.am/p/S-IwRukF4q/

I also went to H&M. They had no peacoats or enjoying death shirts left but
I did find a good alternative to Q's cardigan for just £10!
It has no pockets and is quite a good colour match. It would just require trim adding.
    Photo here: http://instagr.am/p/S9QnS9EF--/

Let me know what you guys think.
    Cheers

@Neversaydie - if you're anywhere near the Trafford Centre, they had quite a few Enjoying Death shirts (the alternative) at the H&M in there when I went last weekend. Mostly sizes medium & large.

I've got one the H&M shirts thanks Ens007. My friend Rich got it for my birthday.
The Primark one is very close bar the buttons.

I bought one of the replicas of the Levi leather jacket from ebay. Not bad. It's obviously not exact but it will do me for a 5th of the price. It's quite a dark brown, needs some distressing but then I was never fond of buying the real thing when it looked very battered and so expensive.

I went for the ebay jacket. Lets hope the fit is right cause I don't want to have to send back to UK. I erred on the larger size as I can always get it tailored and taken in but let out is impossible.

I bought the large. I am a 41 chest and it fits very snug when zipped up.

Do you just take the coat to a tailor and ask him to shorten the collar or is there some other special process to it?
