Just got my budget lodge cords today in the mail from Banana Republic. I got them for $42 to my door about two weeks ago. The color I got is the Chocolate Mousse and it's a very dark brown. Having never seen the AllSaints cords in person they are more than enough for me. http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=22202&vid=1&pid=407829052
Do you just take the coat to a tailor and ask him to shorten the collar or is there some other special process to it?
Yeah, any decent tailor should be able to do it. Might cost 40 or 50 bucks, but well worth it IMO. While you're at it, and its in the shop, you might want to have them do any other mods to it to give it that perfect custom tailored fit.
Went to H&M today and saw the accurate alternative peacoat. Was $99 but on sale for 50% off. Wanted to buy it but didn't...of anyone wants to get it better hurry soon before the sale is over
I picked one up today. Frankly, it is a very nice coat. And amazing for $50!!
Highly recommended. Cancelled my BR order.

I appreciate it. I thought I had seen it before but couldn't remember where. I picked up a black peacoat from a Kenneth Cole outlet on black friday and I wish I would have known about the H&M one. Oh well
Is anyone having their collars shortened on the H&M peacoat? I'd like to see what it looks like. I currently have a real Billy Reid, but if I can get the look for less, I might. Thanks!
can you get the measurements for the collar on your BR peacoat plz? i just bought the h&M coat a few hours ago and wanted to have the collar shortened. just need the measurements for the BR peacoat. if anyone can provide those id much appreciate it.

H&M is a great coat, but I too think the collar is too tall. My girlfriend likes it.... but was probably just saying that to stop me blowing more money on Skyfall clothes.

This sounds very familiar!
Guys I picked up a really nice suit on Tuesday that looks similar to
the pre credit sequence suit from Burtons. Cost £119.
I'm wearing it later today so I'll take some pics.
As this is the budget alternative thread what has every one spent on items?
So far:
Peacoat H&M £42 (Xmas present from fiancee)
Enjoying Death shirt £20 (Xmas present from friend)
Black jumper Burtons £20
Training jacket joint services £20
Pre credit suit Burtons £119
Brown leather jacket (enjoying death) ASOS £70
If my calculations are correct all my gear comes to £291
H&M peacoat: $50
Banana Republic Jumper: $16
Louis Raphael Grey tailored trousers $20
(everything else like the white dress shirt, the black tie and the shoes I already owned a pair that fit my satisfaction for the shanghai outfit alternative) So all in all, I spent $86 on the shanghai outfit.
Just to proudly inform that the cuffs have been featured in the Www.thebondexperience.com

I saw one hanging behind the cash register and thought it might make a decent alternative to the Menlo. But then I found one in the store and tried it on. Like most clothes made for North American stores it's huge. The smallest size was a small and it was what I would consider to truly be a large. I'm 5'8-3/4", 165 pounds with 46-1/2" shoulders, 42" chest, and 32" waist. The shoulder seams hung off my shoulders, the sleeves were too long, and the bottom of the jacket was more than halfway down my butt. And it was far too large in the body, like it's made for people who have a gut. I don't know if a tall man could make it work (I suspect not due to the body being so loose) but it might be worth a try.
On the plus side the buffalo leather is VERY soft and the jacket has details like the Menlo - side buckle adjusters and shoulder vents. The colour is a little strange and has a shine to it - it's like shiny chocolate milk. The jacket would definitely have to be roughed up to make it look better.
Since I pre-ordered the Barbour jacket last week, I decided to finish off the rest of the costume on a budget. The Banana Republic at the mall had a 40% off sale this Saturday, so I was able to grab some nice stuff:
With the sale, I was able to get both pieces for about $100 total, which I think is a good deal. I can't wait for my Barbour to come so I can complete the look!
I bought one of the replicas of the Levi leather jacket from ebay. Not bad. It's obviously not exact but it will do me for a 5th of the price. It's quite a dark brown, needs some distressing but then I was never fond of buying the real thing when it looked very battered and so expensive.
I went for the ebay jacket. Lets hope the fit is right cause I don't want to have to send back to UK. I erred on the larger size as I can always get it tailored and taken in but let out is impossible.
