If a Bond movie deserved an Oscar for best film it would be...?

Is it possible to be objective? Throw out all your personal prefrences & vote for a 'best' film? One with the best screenplay, best direction, editing, music...etc?

Let's see.

I nominate the following Bonds for your consideration:

Doctor No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Living Daylights
Licence To Kill
Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies
The World Is Not Enough
Casino Royale

Okay, being 'objective' here (or trying to be), I find I must vote for Doctor No (far from my own favourite Bond movie) for its many excellent aspects, originality, photography, and inital definition of the entire franchise.

Thoughts? Rebukes? Votes? Other nominations?
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I must say a view to a kill for best score. John Barry at his best if you want proof go on YouTube and listen to bond wines with Stacey

I thought it was stacy who did most of the whining in AVTAK. :))

I think the question was about "Best film". If so I would nominate OHMSS and CR. I suspect Skyfall will be in that class too

When I think of Oscars, I have flashbacks of "critically aclaimed" movies that make you conclude that a finely crafted film is not always entertaining. With that said, I'd narrow down the most likely Oscar-like Bond movies to DN and FRWL, but because of the sci-fi elements of DN, FRWL is it.

That's quite a feat considering Dalton wasn't even in AVTAK!

I didn't want to mention his slight faux paux on this subjet. As most
of us know by now, that Bondtoy's grip on reality is tenuous at the best
    of times. :D

At the risk of taking the question a tad too seriously, I honestly think the Oscars are a load of rubbish. Why? To wit, Alfred Hitchcock is one of the greatest directors ever to have committed imagery to celluloid. His legacy is unparalleled & continues to influence generations of film-makers. But somehow, neither his films nor he were ever deemed worthy enough to receive an Oscar. A travesty if one is to take the Oscars seriously as a mark of cinematic quality.

The Bond films don't need to ever win an Oscar. Their continuing longevity is achievement enough. And they'll live in the memory a damned sight longer than DRIVING MISS DAISY or OUT OF AFRICA.

I've always been told that you can have oscar winning films or
    successful films but not both.
That's why the likes of Hitchcock never got one, as he was successful. :))

If you want to make an oscar winning movie, Here's How.

How SC won an Oscar for the untouchables & not for one of his first four Bond's is a crime of the quality of SPECTER! :007) The Oscars are a joke anyway! Imho

I would say The Spy Who Loved Me which isn't on your list :( I just don't think that there's a Bond film that tops it, the ending with the big shoot out, the characters, the plot, the locations, I think it's the best.
aaahhgh!...Thud..(sorts out tie) what a helpful chap
