S.D. Studios TV Advertisement

A BIG "THANKS" to Mick for finding this.

This is the TV commercial Steve & I filmed with Desmond for the line of SD Studios props.
That's Steve playing a Bond-like character and you'rs truly as the Lab tech getting pushed aside by "Q"

Great to see this again. Believe it or not...it took a full day to film this 60 second spot.

Pretty cool! I still have the copy you sent me on VHS many moons ago as a bonus. The back story to meeting Desmond and holding the original FRWL attaché case is equally fascinating. You lucky man you!

There's also about 30 minutes of behind the scenes footage I hope to soon get.
Hopefully, we'll get that up as well. Always good to see "unseen" Desmond footage.

laughed my **** off at that ed, nice one :))

des as always being the true professinal, and is that an M16 with D handle scope mount, M203 grenade launcher and a twin mag clip, with a magpul PRS style stock? NICE!!

ya know, when people look back in that nostalgic way and think of the great actors etc that aren't around anymore, I can honestly say that Des would be at the top of my list, and really the only actor I really wish was still around.

which leads on to a slightly off topic but interesting thought; if des were still around, would he have been involved in the DC era, and if not, would his exclusion have been a rather controversial one?

We filmed the footage at the Machine shop that actually made the parts for the Re-breather, the Moonraker Wrist Dart gun and the Golden gun and added a lot of "MI-6 Lab dressing" like guns, computers, targets, etc, etc.

I have some photos I'll upload and post within the next few days.

It was only aired locally in the city of Swenksville, Pa. (Where Steve lives)

    Actually, it's a CAR-15 semi-auto. The M203 is a lookalike. It's a 30mm Flare launcher.
I added a luminated front sight post, an M203 side mount sight, the twin mag clip, 2 twin-clamped 30/45 rd mags (total of 180 rounds when all inserted), the D-handle scope mount, the scope and the Magpul Stock. I'll be adding an extended mag release switch and extended charging handle shortly.

Bit of an overkill but maybe "just right" when the Zombies start attacking.

Here's a better pic of the "Ole' girl" with Des & I

Here are a few photos taken that day at C&M (The machine shop that made the props and the location we filmed the commercial) While not exactly a prop stage at Pinewood….I think we did a pretty good rendition of Q-Lab.

At the time this was filmed there was no tube made as yet for the Re-breather so we used an empty tube and cap for the commercial.

The floorplate of each magazine extends out which decompresses the magazine follower spring. When you're ready to use it, you simply slap the floorplate in to compress the spring. One can either load 30 rounds with the floorplate extended or an extra 15 in the mag.
I chose 45 in each extended mag then clamped it to another 45-rd mag.
Having added the twin mag holder allows for a maximum of 180 rounds ready to go.

Glad to have found the clip Ed - Don't know who the YouTube User
is who posted it up.... Just came across it while searching for something
a million miles away from SD Studios / Bond props - Was actually looking
for an old Black and White Video Ad for a Gun Commercial from the 60's :))

Amazing the wonders of what Search Engines can throw up :))

Great seeing all your photos relating to the Advert - Happy memories for you
I am sure Ed - and its great seeing Dear Old Desmond having a laugh off
camera - Wish all the rest of the set was featured in the Advert - All great stuff
