. From the Estate of
Olivia Mansfield
Bequeathed to
James Bond
Well done Urhash, the above confirmation from the BD, just need to get the box made now to go with my original Jack. It def looks like the head is cracked, but I'm going to draw the line at doing that to my Jack, there are limits
Sorry GM but it has indeed been confirmed by Meg simmonds herself..
There was also something else that cropped up while we were looking through the archive, something that may be of even more interest to Bond fans. As we looked at the porcelain bulldog M bequeaths Bond, the archive assistant read the inscription on the box it is presented to him in -
"Olivia Mansfield bequeaths James Bond."
This is the excellent article - plenty of goodies in here like the evaluation report etc....
1080 and either a frame advance BD player or a ripped digital copy, there's about 3 frames where you can make it out fairly clearly, you may also find that you get it in the ear from HWMBO, I got various noises from tutting to "you've been doing that for an hour, now pack it in 'cause Coronation Street is on" )

Even in those pics you can see the variation between the early 1940's version (this is the version seen in SF) on the right compared to the later mid 1940's + version on the left. The originals head is almost straight and level, while the later versions, as well as the larger modern version, has the head slightly canted, which added to the personality of the piece. The eyes on the later versions are nowhere near as well applied as the first run either.
Also note the difference in painting on the belly, only the one on the right is SA. Funnily enough this evening I finally got hold the smaller one, so now have a complete original set Lg, Med (SA) & Small plus the recent issue, going to have some SA black boxes made complete with SA label & frame. Watch this space, I'll offer them here first.
Those are all the same model - the new one. They are very slightly bigger than the 1940's screen used version and the eyes are all wrong. Still, they are nice. You'll pay big bucks for the correct vintage version now, and you don't see that many for sale with the correct SA eyes. Most have the basic black rings.
Apologies for reopening such an old thread. Does anyone know how many of these were made? I asked Royal Doulton and got the following response:
"The 007 back stamp was limited for a time but not Jack. There a different back stamps that relate to the dates manufactured.
Some Jack's will be out there that do not have the 007 back stamp at all and so you may wish to check this with the person / company you have purchased from."
No mention of the number though!
