Well done Urhash, the above confirmation from the BD, just need to get the box made now to go with my original Jack. It def looks like the head is cracked, but I'm going to draw the line at doing that to my Jack, there are limits
PLease correct me if im wrong, but in the TV series of tinker tailor spy with Alec Guiness
wasnt the head of their secret service called mother ?
it was a long time ago so forgive me if ive totally confused it with something else
but thats how i think of M as mother ,

As I've been invited to this thread, M's real name is, as minigeff notes, Barbara Mawdsley in Raymond Benson's James Bond continuation novel The Facts of Death (1998).
Mother is actually from The Avengers , I think, it could have been used in Tinker Tailor too - Mother was the boss of John Steed and Emma Peel and I believe that he was wheel-chair bound. Ian Fleming called his own mother M and 'mother' was used in one of the Bond novels (either the original or the continuation) to signify 'M'. In the Bond novels, the male M was called Sir Miles Messervy or 'Mailedfist' for 'M'. I know of no other name for the new female M - I've only seen Skyfall once as yet. That's all I can come up with, I'm afraid. M is called 'Emma' by Kincaid as he obviously got her name wrong for comic effect.
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).
The fact remains indisputedly in Skyfall that M's name on screen is Olivia Mansfield
Indeed.
Mention of M's name during the whole book/film franchise have only been referenced three times. Twice in the books and once on film in SKYFALL on the bulldog box.... Olivia Mansfield.
In the books by Fleming and onwards, to the male - Miles Messervy, and by Benson to the female - Barbara Mawdsley.

Oh, right, I see. I honestly wasn't aware of this having so far only seen the film once. Olivia Mansfield it is then! Plus it's an 'M' surname! Some people argue that the 'M' of GoldenEye to Die Another Day is a different character to the 'M' of Casino Royale to Skyfall - that may be your answer to this one! It does get confusing though, as Dame Judi Dench plays both Ms.

Better make that TWICE on film - General Gogol refers to M in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) as "Miles".

That's cool I did not know M's name was Olivia Mansfield
Her name is almost like a bad pun based on the fact she's the boss in a mostly male environment, a "man's field"
Not Fleming of course
I always thought M was called Barbara Mawdsley?

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
You better believe it you sausage munching victim of mole-estation.
Sorry, phrased it wrongly:
The MORON is back {[]
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
But in CR, Bond starts to say M's name and says "maw.." before getting cut off by M.
Is M referred to or called Olivia in SF?
