I actually loved it when Lazenby was reading the Playboy while breaking into the safe. I mean, how much more Bondian can you get? When my Dad saw it at the theater when it came out, he was initially doubtful of Lazenby as Bond (especially in the PTS, something which to this day he dislikes), but as the movie went on, he grew to accept him. THIS was the moment it "clicked" for him, though. I think there was a distinct reason they put that in.
My starters for 9 ... (bear with me here & be gentle, as I'm having an horrendous day so far)

[*]Genuinely can't believe the number of posts that I've seen bleating on about where (or for that matter where not! ) the gunbarrel is. I'm sure that I've even read some people say that they have considered walking out of the theatre when it hasn't emerged at the outset in some of the later films!! I'm struggling to get my head around this, but each to their own I guess.[/*]
[*]Halle Berry is the finest looking Bond girl to date. Ok her part was pretty naff & her 'acting' questionable, but my lord is she gorgeous & I thought that she had great chemistry with Brosnan.[/*]
[*]The car chase opening in Q of S was superb. Don't get the choppy editing complaints - it's a high-speed chase ffs!! Maybe we could have John Woo style doves circling overhead in slow motion to add artistic merit or comedic scenes involving large sheets of glass being smashed by the cars a-la Wayne's World?!?[/*]
[*]I liked the coldness of Bond in dumping Mathis in the skip. To me it showed the realism of what a Secret Agent would do in that particular scenario, bearing in mind the situation in play.[/*]
[*]Although I grew up with Moore's films, the cheesiness is starting to wear thin now. Great at the time, but IMO hasn't dated as well as the other Bonds.[/*]
[*]Mr White could have gone on to be one of the, if not THE best villain. Elliott Carver was also very under-rated in the series to date.[/*]
[*]I love Thunderball![/*]
[*]Duran Duran's theme has been the best to date.[/*]
[*]... And maybe not so controversial, but Daniel Craig has been absolutely superb as Bond. Great physicality to the role (and believable), charming when needed, some funny one-liners ("I don't think he smoked" still makes me chuckle) and to me he has embodied the character and the persona superbly.[/*]

I've just discovered a very controversial opinion of my own:
I have been re-watching all the bond films in order. I've just finished watching CR '06. And I think that it might actually be my least favourite bond movie. It's definitely down there anyway. I'm not kidding. I just don't see it as bond. I like DC as bond, and love Skyfall. But CR '06 to me just does not feel like a bond film IMO. Am I alone in thinking this?
The film itself is technically good, but it's just not for me!

Funny, I don't think Skyfall felt much like a Bond movie, but both CR '06 and QoS are top-tier Bond movies in my book.
For Skyfall, IMO it felt like a bond movie whilst simultaneously not feeling like one if that makes sense... but either way, it still felt more like a bond movie than CR and QOS for me
Yes, NSNA, the film I still maintain gave Bond lethal urine and which I believe inspired the '80's SNL sketch about having 132 different, erm, social diseases...
Skyfall and Casino royale are the greatest Bond films ever and saved the franchise. Might not be costroversial.
Craig is far cooler as Bond then connery.
- I don't really care for any Connery film after Goldfinger
- Ernst Stavro Blofeld isn't that great of a villain (in the films)
- Thunderball puts me to sleep
- The Man With The Golden Gun is terribly underrated
I think that's all... for now.
"The secret agent. The man who was only a silhouette..." -- Ian Fleming, Moonraker
1) The Spy Who Loved Me 2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service 3) GoldenEye 4) Casino Royale 5) Goldfinger
I love Moonraker. Always have and always will.
I love the scores to FYEO LTK and GE.
DAF is my least favourite and YOLT really sags as the mid point (the wedding and being Japanese). Casino Royale 1967 is the worst film ever made.
A view to kill is my favourite title song.
There have bean no truely good 007 video games since Goldeneye for the N64.
The James Bond Jr cartoon is brilliant!
- Blofeld should have got away with it in DAF, bond was crap.
- When Gettler had Vesper at knife point he should have done her in or let Bond shoot her. Would have buggered him up much more if he'd killed her and then realised his mistake later.
- The Z3 in GE was crap (prob not so controversial)
- A future villain should be based on Jimmy Savile. Now WHOAH, hold on a second. No I'm not saying Quantum should turn out to be a big pedo ring, but I like the concept of having a bad guy or organisation that's well known but had a sinister background. Gustav Graves was a half arsed attempt, it might be interesting to have this idea run again but properly. It was only lightly hinted at that Graves was a good guy in the public eye, so what about playing on that a bit more and having Bond finding it difficult to convince people that all isn't as it seems? And no, I don't like Jimmy Savile or anyone 'that was inclined' I'm just using him as an example.
- I still wanna see an aston used on screen for more than 3mins. Past car chases have been good, but too short for me. I'd also like to save the Aston for once, I'm fed up of seeing them blown up, crashed, shot up or smashed to bits.
- For bond 24 I want a Q branch scene. A funny one, with background gags and witty one liners. GE was brilliant for this.
We all know marmite stinks and is thick and gooey, like treacle. Treacle though is sweeter, bit like sugar. Sugar we put in our tea, tea time is around 5 o'clock where us Brits love to eat cucumber sangers. Sangers rhymes with hangers. Hangers is where planes are stored, planes can also be tools to smooth wood. Wood grows in forests and alongside fields where you'll sometimes find a ditch. It's cold right now, and when you have a cold and say 'ditch' it can sound like 'bitch', and I knew a bitch once and referred to her as a complete witch, so.....
If Lexi smells like marmite she must be a witch. In which case;

I'd actually like these as well. In fact, I'd not only like to see them, I'd like to see them amalgamated. We're always given hints that Bond destroyed BUT ALSO brought back certain cars (the Bentley, most notably; Q directly references it). Why not see Daniel Craig driving in a totaled Aston-Martin, stepping out the door after forcing it open (not falling off; that would be a bit too over the top), and smiling briefly to a frustrated Ben Whishaw and get the character down the road toward being annoyed with Bond?
Remember, in FRWL, Q doesn't really have much against Bond. It's not until GF that we actually see the annoyance that Q begins developing toward Bond, and then getting progressively stronger after that (although of course he does obviously not go past anything more than extreme annoyance, as we saw in OHMSS and even LTK, where he was out of place but at least acted how you might expect him to act toward Bond).
- The Z3 in GE was crap (prob not so controversial)
I think you're probably in the majority on that. Giving Bond a BMW at all was a low point in the series (unless he were forced to steal one); I agree with the guys from Top Gear on this one.
