The good news: an early release. The bad news: the majority of goodies is on the Blu-ray X-(
Clearly this is to promote the Blu-ray which strangely enough lacks a DTS soundtrack...
I love Skyfall but refuse to get pushed into buying a Blu-ray player.

If you already have a bigscreen HD TV, Blu-Ray is the way to go, especially if you are a Bond fan. Some of the Bond films are considered the finest Blu-Ray remasters ever done and CR is rated as one of the best contemporary Blu-Rays.
I have DN, FRWL, and TB on Blu-ray and the picture quality is breath taking.
Don't get me wrong - the quality of Blu-ray is beyond doubt! However, I have a flatscreen SD tv and a perfectly fine dvd player - they might still serve for years to come. That means no extensive extra's on the Skyfall dvd, and that s*cks...
I'll probably pick up the HMV steelcase Blu-ray which seems fairly priced, but might not see it for a long time
This may be of interest. A Daniel Craig 007 Blu-ray Triple Pack, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall will be released on February 18th 2013, Amazon UK, priced at £24.99.
This will be a fine addition to my bond collection. The greatest bond film since 1989 for me, and thus the most excited I've ever been for a dvd of a latest bond film
Here's a little update it looks like the dvd/blu ray date is February 12th not the 18th as previously thought also Skyfall is available to own digitally through VUDU (and I'm sure other streaming sites) February 5th.
This information is for the USA but I would think it is the same in the UK as well

The DVD/Blu-ray release date for the UK is currently February 18th, so it looks like you good people on the other side of the pond will be six days ahead of us. I guess that is your compensation for having to wait those extra two weeks to see Skyfall in the cinema.

where are you guys getting this date? I checked with amazon and they dont have a release date?
Amazon (US) is not currently showing a date, but it has been reported in media outlets that the release of the DVD/Blu-ray in the US will be on February 12th. An example below.
dont!! order from hmv,,, my wife ordered the blu ray,, and tried to cancel when the word went out about closing down,, she cant cancel, so i dont think we,ll getthe dvd,s
Afraid so Don p.
My brother just about managed to cancel his Skyfall Bluray order before the administration notice appeared on the website.
It's completely unfair that they'll take your money but not supply any goods.
Also gift vouchers and points are useless now as well.

Yeh, me too. I have a perfectly good DVD (one that upgrades the film...can't remember the tech name) and I don't often buy DVD's...so to fork out a whole load of money for a blu-ray player just to see the extras seems a waste of money.
Humph. Not fair

I find it hard to watch DVDs after watching blu rays, although upscaling improves things, there is a lot of depth missing.
Though im a snob when it comes to these things )
Nothing snobbish about that. If you have a large television then standard definiton DVD simply isn't good enough and Blu-ray is a necessity rather than a luxury.

Well that rather depends on your definition of a 'necessity' )
Paying the heating bills, food and clothes prob rank higher on the list... if you already have a perfectly good DVD player...
(But I get your point! )

Of course it depends on the blu ray, some are crap transfers but when they are good they are stunning and blow DVD counterparts away!
