Skyfall reclaimed the top spot at the US box office on Friday with an estimated gross of $3.1 million. It is predicted to gross over $10 million this weekend, which should be good enough for first place. That would make it the first film to lead on its fifth weekend since Avatar in January 2010. After twenty nine days on release, Skyfall has earned $253.7 million.

Skyfall has become Sony Pictures highest grossing release of all time. The current worldwide total of $918.2 million has eclipsed the $890 million haul of Spider-Man 3. Skyfall's international total now stands at $656.6 million - the third best international gross this year behind only The Avengers ($888.4 million) and Ice Age: Continental Drift ($714.0 million).
Skyfall comfortably topped the Australian box office for the third weekend in a row, grossing $4,656,712, over $2 million ahead of second placed Pitch Perfect. Skyfall's total Australian gross now stands at $32.2 million.
Skyfall has been replaced at the top of the UK box office by Rise of the Guardians but still grossed £1,428,708 over the weekend. That is an impressive figure considering it was the seventh weekend on release. Skyfall's total UK gross now stands at £96,333,036. It looks like it has enough legs to top £100 million but there are some big films being released in the next week or two, they include The Hobbit.
I've never looked to see what box office takes are like in China but like Welshboy, I imagine Skyfall's already in country-wide release on pirate DVDs and Blu-Rays so probably not as massive as a country of that size would suggest!
To give you some idea regarding potential box office take in China. Casino Royale grossed $12 million and Quantum of Solace $21 million. As part of Skyfall is set in Shanghai and Macau, that will probably generate more interest. Earlier this year, The Avengers grossed $84 million and The Dark Knight Rises $53 million.

As expected, new release The Hobbit dominated the US box office with a weekend estimated gross just below $85 million. On it's sixth weekend Skyfall came in a very respectable fourth with an estimated $7 million, and it is worth noting that it is still being screened in 2,924 theatres. Skyfall's total US gross now stands at $272.3 million, the worldwide gross at $951 million. It is now a question of when not if it passes $1 billion.
Skyfall topped the Australian box office for the fourth weekend in a row. It was shown on 569 screens for a screen average of $5,611, grossing $3,192,433. This brings Skyfall's total Australian gross to $37,246,724.
Skyfall has become the number one film in France this year. In less than two months it has attracted 6,606,490 viewers in cinemas, exceeding the 6,588,883 of Ice Age: Continental Drift. Skyfall is now closing in on the most successful Bond film Goldfinger which attracted 6,675,587 viewers in February 1965.
Thanks for all these numbers, Moore Than...your efforts are much appreciated.
I guess the success in France could at least in part be attributed to Berenice Marlohe. Which is ironic because she has made it clear in a number of interviews that having been snubbed for years by the French because she doesn't have the 'right look', she finally made it big thanks to a foreign film and is now big at home!

Agreed, but compare her to Eva Green, Sophie Marceau and others, and definitely does not have the looks

I thought the Japanese were Bond crazy - guess not these days
Well, the box office figures from Skyfall plus the previous three films suggests they are not Bond crazy, but there is a consistent and loyal following.
Die Another Day $18,441,255
Casino Royale $18,982,804
Quantum of Solace $21,685,734

What's the overall gross? Has it reached a billion yet?
As of last weekend, Skyfall's worldwide gross stood at $951 million, there should be an update tomorrow. Skyfall is set to pass the $1 billion mark, most likely after its release in China next month.

Skyfall grossed an estimated $4,700,000 this weekend at the US box office. The theatre count has dropped by 559 but it is still being screened in 2,365 over the Christmas week, that will hopefully give it a little extra boost. Skyfall's total US gross now stands at $279,972,000, the total worldwide at $974,272,000.

Forgive me if this has been raised earlier, but figures aren't my strength (quite the opposite). Adjusted for inflation, is SF the biggest earning 007 movie ever or is that still MR, TB, or whatever? Or is it still too early to tell?

I assume you meant it has dropped from the #1 position in the weekly chart. Skyfall is #1 in the Netherlands box office chart of 2012.
