Skyfall grossed an estimated $1.57 million dollars at the US box office this weekend. The theatre count dropped by 484 but it is still being screened in 823. Skyfall's overall US gross now stands at $299.36 million, worldwide at $1.032 billion.
Skyfall ended 2012 as the third highest grossing film at the Canadian box office, according to the Motion Picture Theatre Associations of Canada. Overall box office revenue in Canada was close to $1.1 billion dollars, a nine per-cent increase over 2011.

Thanks in large part to Skyfall, UK cinemas enjoyed a bumper year in 2012, as customers bought 173 million tickets and splashed out £1.17 billion pounds on admissions, according to figures from trade group the Cinema Exhibitors' Association. The record ticket revenues represented an annual four per cent rise. The rise in admissions was slight but better than many expected.

Skyfall is to be released in China next week with key scenes removed and alternative translations written into the subtitles to appease the countries censors. The edited version has removed a scene where Patrice (Ola Rapace) shoots a Chinese security guard. References to prostitution and corruption in China have either been edited out or obscured in the subtitle translations. In particular the back story to Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) who was tortured by the Chinese government after working for MI6 in Hong Kong has been softened with all references to China removed.
Skyfall has now passed the $300 million dollar mark at the US box office. The previous highest gross for a Bond film (not adjusted for inflation) was Quantum of Solace' $168 million. Adjusted for inflation, Skyfall is the third highest grossing Bond film behind Goldfinger $515 million ($51m in 1964) and Thunderball $585 million ($65m in 1965).
Skyfall grossed an estimated $1.05 million dollars at the US box office over the weekend. The overall US gross now stands at $300.93 million, worldwide at $1.034 billion. Skyfall is pretty much on its last legs everywhere now except China, where it opened today. About the only question remaining is whether it will gross the approx $45 million needed to overhaul The Dark Knight Rises $1.081 billion total to become the second highest grossing film of 2012 and the seventh highest grossing film ever (not adjusted for inflation).
I saw it world premiere at the Royal Albert on 28 Oct, then 8 November for the US premiere, a third time on a date, a fourth time with brother during christmas, 5th time with a bunch of coworkers, and today is the 6th.

Maybe Skyfall won't be such a bit hit in China? It opened on Monday on nearly 5,500 screens, which makes it the widest release ever in the PRC. But a nearly three month delay in its release, widespread piracy, and mixed-to-poor word of mouth among theatregoers doomed the film to a disappointing $4.9 million dollar opening day mainland gross. Sunday's midnight screenings also fell below expectations at roughly $300,000.
I hope it flops in China. I'm sick of film producers pandering to China by editing out any negative reference to the country all in the vane hope of making tons of money from a box office that doesn't even exist because of cultural differences, rampant piracy etc. There's no other country in the world that has ever made such demands and had studios, authors, search engines, news agencies actually give in. As much as I would love to see Skyfall make a killing and reach record international box office heights, I would be happier if the Chinese box office take became a non-issue so that we could stop pandering to their appalling censorship.
After four days on release, Skyfall has already taken 112 million yuan (US $18 million), according to figures from Dianyingpiaofangba ("Movie Box Bulletin Board"), one of the most authorative sources of ticket sales figures in the Chinese blogosphere. At such speed, Skyfall will comfortably overcome the earnings of Quantum of Solace (which took 143 million yuan/ US $23 million in 2008) to become the highest grossing Bond film to be released in China.
Skyfall's run at the US box office may well have ended as it does not show up in Box Office Mojo's weekend estimates. The overall US gross currently stands at $301.25 million dollars. The worldwide gross is now at $1.077 billion, which places it eighth in the all time list (not adjusted for inflation). Skyfall is now set to surpass the The Dark Knight Rises $1.081 billion total within the next few days.
As of this past weekend "Skyfall" is still playing on US screens. In the Philadelphia/South Jersey area alone it is still playing at several multiplexes albeit in small auditoriums for typically only one or two showings a day.
I actually saw "Skyfall" for a third time (wife hadn't seen it yet so I generously volunteered to go) last night and was quite surprised that the theatre (only a 100 seater) actually sold out.
Each time I have seen "Skyfall" the theatre has sold out (first week 600 seats/IMAX; 220 seats Digital; 100 seats Digital).
Skyfall grossed $34.4 million dollars in its first full frame at 8,079 Chinese venues. On 100 IMAX screens, the gross was $2.5 million. Skyfall's overall international gross (outside the US) is now at $776.5 million, making it the sixth biggest of all time.
Skyfall is a big hit in South Africa, just about to pass R35 million at the box office. It kicked off with a record breaking opening weekend at the end of November 2012. Analysts believe that a significant proportion of fans returned to see it multiple times throughout the December holiday period, which would account for the number of zeros the film has collected in Rands. As long as the film is selling, it plays. Skyfall is still screening across South Africa.
Skyfall has become the most successful film at the Netherlands box office since the millennium by surpassing Avatar (2009). Skyfall has attracted 2.2 million visitors since it opened on the 31st October 2012. It is still running in 94 cinemas.
It's interesting that the DVD/Blu-ray release is just two weeks away and yet I noticed that in Toronto it's still playing in 13 cinemas. It's probably only drawing small crowds at this point, but there's obviously still demand or they wouldn't be showing it at all. Quite remarkable seeing as it's been open for three months now!

The international gross (outside the US) now stands at $791.5 million, worldwide at $1.093 billion. Skyfall is now seventh on the all time list of the highest grossing films (not adjusted for inflation).
