I've never seen any of the Star Wars films but recently bought them all on DVD. Can someone advise me through a simple ranking their best to worst for this series? Also, what order is it best to view them in?
Please forgive my general ignorance in this area.... -{

You never saw them? Wow.
I'd say just watch the prequels, then the other three.

Interesting question
Personally each trilogy is just so different that I would view them in any order (the trilogy not the films in general). Naturally you would start from the beginning (Prequel trilogy) but I mean they are so different and its not like a seamless transition so I view them a bit like 2 different Bonds. i.e. it would be a bit like looking for continuity between Lazenby and Daniel Craig lol
As for order of best to worse I would say:
1) Empire Strikes Back
2) A New Hope
3) Return Of The Jedi
4) Revenge Of The Sith
5) Attack Of The Clones
6 Phantom Menace
Start from the beginning and at least you know its going to get better

I think the prequel trilogy could have been told over 2 films - a lot of time and pointless things going on drawn out over three films. They should have had the whole 3rd film of Darth Vader causing mayhem and chasing the Rebels leading onto a New Hope.
Darth Maul would have been a great villain and was killed off too soon in my opinion. Maybe Vader should have stayed him or Obi Wan in the third film

"The Force Awakens?" Well, not as bad a title as "The Phantom Menance," but not particularly thrilling. Ironically, something that's awake makes me want to fall asleep. . .

Well you have to remember Disney now do own the franchise.
You guys my age remember the announced title of ROTJ? It was Revenge Of The Jedi. The even put it in early posters.
The Force Awakens?
Maybe... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F4qzPbcFiA
I wouldn't be a huge fan ( not like Jabba) but I do like them
The three good ones that is. ) The prequels have no sense
of fun, and seem a bit full of themselves. Also Lucas writes

Hard to believe Lucas had a hand in both prequels and sequels! A bit like associating him with Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the Crystal Skulls ) I think its fair to say age has had a negative effect on his work!!!

The new title is: STAR WARS: The Force Awakens (2015). it will include Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. The men who portrayed R2D2 and C3PO are back as well. The story takes place 30 years after the story of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
In case you have been living in a cave somewhere, this is the first movie of new trilogy to be released December 18, 2015, then Episode 8 in 2017 and Episode 9 on 2019. In-between the trilogy will be 2 or 3 alternate stand-alone films. Although it has not been officially announced yet, the 2016 movie could be about Boba Fett. Young Han Solo and a Yoda film has also been mentioned. The stand-alone films will be released in 2016 and 2018 with the possibility of one in 2020.
The first stand-alone film should start production in 2015, if they do want to release it in 2016.
The movie isn't out until December 2015, but on the most closely guarded set in Hollywood history, Disney applied for a drone shield, forced visitors to put secret tape over their phone cameras and contended with men in trees posting spoilers as fans frantically consume - or create - anything that can travel the Internet more quickly than the Millennium Falcon.
Perhaps the title of this thread could be changed to reflect the new title for this film?
Sure!

Glad Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker are back as the droids. With or without Hamill, Fisher and Ford it would not be Star Wars without Artoo and Threepio. The Title sucks, but most modern film titles seem to. Now we see if S Wars can avoid the same mess as S Trek!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
The first trailer for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will be screened before all movies at selected Regal Cinemas across the US from this Friday 28th to Sunday 30th Nov. Click on the link below to see list of cinemas/locations.
