    The emotional death scene could be seen as a nod to OHMSS I guess, although I don't know if that's looking too deep into it

    Chateau Anet was where the opening sequence of Thunderball was filmed. I remembered when I saw TB as a kid the stag statue reminded me of the coat of arms crest on Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire. (I visited that house with my parents before I started school).

    Lol! That's easy Mini G - Both! Some are probably happy accidents, but since its 50 years of cinematic Bond, and considering the clunkers we witnessed in QoS, (oil coated Strawberries anyone?) I suspect many were deliberate in a subtle way.
