If I were to just go with Clarks to replicate, what color do you think is the best one to go with?

    Taupe Suede or Oakwood Suede?

    Taupe: http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/product/desert_boot_men/78354
    Oakwood: http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/product/desert_boot_men/70529

I'm thinking Oakwood might be the answer vs. Taupe which was previously thought, but was wondering if anyone else could opine (esp. Mantis given you've got the actual Zara pair).

    Thanks!

Out of the two I would go oakwood

I was going back and forth on this also.

FYI- Clarks are cheaper on Amazon. they are in the $70 to $80 range depending on color.

To be honest I might go the Clarks route - when over in the UK last Nov, I checked out the Zara desert boots and thought the quality was appalling (of course just my opinion but they didn't seem built to last long by the quality of them, though of course Zara is not a reputable shoe maker!)

I have to say I thought the Zara boots look very cheap too but when I actually got my enjoying death boots I have been wearing them all the time as they are mega comfortable

Well for 55 quid on US amazon I ordered the Oakland Clark Desert boots.

Will still search for the Zara's however it seems unlikely to pop up in my size

Okay so since the topic of exact color has come up ive been curious as to which is actually correct. In some photos the boots look dark brown like the QOS pair and in some they look taupe (ie the set photos with the range rover). But The Mantis is usually pretty accurate with these things so which of my shoes are closest:

In this photo they still look brown/taupe

I think your covered bud, you got four pairs. your good for boots. unless your going to be DC stunt double on a new beach scene they filming. Stick a any pair you think looks good with a pair of jeans, a good shirt, a leather jacket (even a menlo) and go find the greek chick from the cabin to take somewhere on holiday.

Haha well while i dont mind the random ladies, im just curious as to which one is accurate not only for my piece of mind, but for others as well. The dark brown ones are old clarks from 08 and im debating getting a new pair. The taupe clarks in the back i bought a few months ago thinking they were right. The darker tan ones i bought in 07 as well ...yada yada yada but all in all im wondering which color is used with skyfall lol.
  • alphaagentalphaagent Posts: 433MI6 Agent
Oh in that case, dark brown (your far left pair) You can see them in the Bond on set photo
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
I would go with the ones in the front./...the caramel colored ones if trying to get close to the SkyFall look...
  • alphaagentalphaagent Posts: 433MI6 Agent
you sure Dave? they seem awfully darker in the Bond on set photos, plus I just watched the whole segment again, they look the colour of the jacket and darker than the trousers which are a light sand/camel colour.

film and light can play tricks....
for example....the below pics are of the same correct boot...

True, but then the trousers would seem darker too. Side by side I couldn't imagine them to be so different.

This is a picture that I've sent to one of the buyers. These are the ones that I found, my thought about the colour - I don't know. As someone said - these are looking different in every screenshot, which is quite odd. But I'm trusting Dave in this one, he said it's the wrong colour.

Mantis do you still have any contact with jenny?, that could settle this debate but for now im going to stick with the darkest color due to matching the jacket
  • StefanStefan VirginiaPosts: 568MI6 Agent
The only time you ever see the boots it looks dark because of the light, the last photo from by David shows the dramatic effect light makes on color.

As an alternative, does these boots in the "snuff" color from J. Crew come close to the Zara boot?
