Spooks/MI5 series 5

I've always that the two part opener of series 5 of MI5 would make a good Bond movie if it were taken in a different direction. For those who haven't seen those episodes, MI6 is involved in internal sabotage inside thew UK because the head of MI6, a media mogul and a leading businessman are attempting what amounts to a right wing coup.

I think a Bond movie could be made that starts out with a botched assignment, a new M, and maybe Bond being tricked into killing a government figure (which would be outside of MI6s actual intelligence role) and Bond concluding that the new M and his double O's attempting a move on the government. Bond now has to work against MI6 to stop it.

Anyone agree or disagree with this?

I've always wanted to see more of MI6 & its machinations. But then I've always liked espionage tales & the Bond films have never really been about spying. Your ideas are a good starting point. I'd like to see more of the enemy within. The idea of 006 being the baddie in GOLDENEYE was a good one. One that I think could be expanded upon in future.
Guy Haines wasn't exploited at all in QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Perhaps such operatives could be lurking in the shadows in Bond 24. But again would all this skullduggery move the series even further from the traditions of the Bond of old? It's a difficult tightrope John Logan will have to walk. I'm enthused by it but am sure some will worry that the Bond of previous decades is less & less likely to return, at least while Daniel Craig is playing 007.

I liked MI5 quite a bit and they always portrayed MI6 as a sinister organization. Two of the hardest edged characters on the show were agents who were seconded from MI6.

I liked that the villain in Goldeneye was 006. I was really happy that I didn't see the theatrical preview for Goldeneye because it revealed who Janus really was.

The scenes in the tube look to me like they may have been inspired in part by MI-5. I thought it was extremely well done.

Shouldn't this be in the general or off topic sub forums?
