I have tried to give TSWLM a chance. I like the film and all, but.... so many people consider it Moore's best. For me, it's not even close. It's a good film, but severely overrated in my eyes. The egypt scenes were cool. But the liparus/atlantis stuff dragged on for far too long IMO. There was also so much submarine jargon that at times I thought they may as well have renamed the film "How to control a submarine".

Don't get me wrong - I think this is a good film. And the PTS is one of the strongest in the series. But I definitely cannot see why it is considered Moore's best. For me, 5, and maybe even 6 Moore films beat it. What is so great about TSWLM?

For me the best thing about TSWLM is the Carly Simon song. The film has it's moments but I can't say it's a favourite of mine. I still rate FYEO and OP higher.

I once heared a fellow AJB'er say: "If an alien ever asked me: "What is a Bond movie?""I Would show him The Spy Who Loved Me." (forgot who the member was! Could have been Chrisisall or maybe Peppermill, but I'm not sure on that one...) Anyway, I couldn't agree with that more! TSWLM is what you call a classic Bond movie! This is kind of Moore's "Goldfinger". (So to speak.) It has so many memorable and iconic things in it, Jaws, the Lotus Esprit, Barbara Bach, the famous freefall with the parachute, and a classic over the top Lewis Gilbert plot. It's the type of Bond movie you could just put in your DVD player and show to someone who isn't familiar with Bond at all, and he is almost guaranteed to love it!

I guess, some just love it, and some think it's underrated. I know your favorite Moore movies are LALD and AVTAK, those are actually my two least favorite Moore movies. But - hey, thats the beauty of being a Bond fan - To each their own! -{

Well remembered OP and FYEO aren't far behind those two for me either.

I am generally a huge fan of Moore's films in general (apart from Moonraker), but just think TSWLM is a bit overrated is all. And I was never really a fan of Jaws, so that may have something to do with it also... And I thought Stromberg was weak too (although the way he killed the girl and the two professors was cool).
