General Gogol

So, most of the time he is bond's ally, like in TSWLM for instance. But other times he is bond's enemy, like in FYEO. Out of all the bond films he appears in, can someone confirm if he is an ally or a villain for each respective film?

    He's the enemy, but one which has a mutual respect for Bond.

    I think Gogol represents the idea that, although the USSR was to some extent, run by war-hungry loonies, there were also men who wanted a more peaceful relationship with the west.
    He ends up offering Bond the Order of Lenin in AVTAK, and his successor Pushkin helps Bond to nail Koskov in TLD, so I consider them both to be allies.

    He ended up as an ally a third of the way through the film. Before that he was not such an ally if he sent a KGB squad after Bond, leading to a famous montain chase. He's included in this fan made villain's gallery (the right hand of the last row):

    General Gogol

    TSWLM - Ally
    MR - Ally
    FYEO - Enemy
    OP - Ally
    AVTAK - Ally

    My view, at the least.

    I think it would have been great to have seen Gogol brainwash Moore's Bond and have him try to kill M like in Fleming's You Only Live Twice novel. -{

    There is an episode of The Persuaders entitled 'Someone Like Me' in which Roger Moore's character Lord Brett Sinclair is programmed/brainwashed in an attempt to make him kill a reclusive millionaire businessman friend of his named Sam Milford, played by (you guessed it) Bernard Lee. Tony Curtis' character Danny Wilde saves the day. It's one of my favourite episodes.

    Actually, like in Fleming's TMWTGG.

    Seconded, though.
