Raul Silva-Origins - Spoilers
DTReinsma
Orlando, FL, USAPosts: 81MI6 Agent
Raul Silva was an MI6 agent under M while she was a section chief in Hong Kong. Was he a 00 or a regular MI6 agent? Silva says Bond is not the agent he was. That sounds like he was a 00. What I don't get is why would a 00 be under Judi Dench's character before she was M and why would he be stationed in Hong Kong? Why would a Spanish guy be a member of the British secret service? Lastly, what was the purpose of changing his name?

a Spanish guy in Hong kong. Sort of like the Spanish inquisition. )
No One Expects it.
By the way, I've put the above comment in a spoiler tag to avoid anyone who hasn't seen the film being pissed off that there's no previous warning in either the thread title or the initial post.
Can you lot try to do the same?
Cheers,

The thread title was changed to include"spoilers" by a moderator. If someone hasn't seen SF, they should avoid the SF section. When the UK got release 2 weeks earlier than the U.S., I avoided this section for that reason. I don't want to have to warn of spoilers on a site where I assume we have all seen the same things.
Anyway, does anyone know if Silva was a 00 or not?

I know it was changed, it's me who reported it.
I'm not trying to land you in it, I just think people should be mindful that for whatever reasons, some people (regardless of country) haven't had chance to see it yet. Castigating everyone who hasn't by saying "haven't seen SF? Don't look in the SF section then" is quite unfair at best and downright rude at worst.
All I'm saying you should think about spoiling it for others before posting info. And don't get pissy about a mod changing your thread title, it's hardly a ticking off.
Anyhow, it's never confirmed in the film that Silva was a 00, he's simply referred to as one of M's agents, although she did say he was her best so look on that however you like.

How is it unfair or rude to openly discuss Skyfall in a Skyfall thread? Why in the world would ANYONE go to a section regarding a film they have not seen and hope to avoid spoilers? What information would they be looking for? They want to discuss a movie they know little about but want to avoid learning plot points in the movie? It is baffling to me that someone would come to a Skyfall discussion and be offended that something was discussed about the very topic. It's like playing Taboo. I can discuss it without really talking about it. It's ridiculous.
Until recently, this section was spoiler-free and there is still plenty to discuss that doesn't involve spoilers. Just because there is a lot of plot to discuss now, doesn't mean all of the pre-release, pre-watch interest is gone for visitors on the site.
Indeed, there's still SF related matters that don't have to include spoilers. Fans who haven't seen the film can discuss how many times they wish or plan to see the film, discuss its success with regards takings at the box office, discuss the possibility of any academy award nominations (a matter raised before on previous bond films) or discuss the use of CGI in bond films in the Komodo dragons thread. All these matters, and many more can be discussed without referring to plot or character spoilers.
To simply banish everyone who's yet to see Skyfall from the forum, just so you don't have to use spoiler tags or give any warnings is a tad selfish wouldn't you admit?

Maybe because most thoughtful & fair minded posters (who have seen the film), care to put the word 'spoiler' before posting something that potentially gives some of the game away to those who haven't yet seen it?!
Like others have said, there's plenty of threads in the SF section that don't revolve around talking specifics of the actual film - So why shouldn't people expect just a little bit of consideration? Up to you I guess ...
