Word Association Scene

In the word association scene why does Bond say "Done" and leave the room when the dude says Skyfall? Is literally just because it was his childhood home and he has bad memories of the place? Because he doesn't think his past should play a part in his training? The trailers made this scene out to be an important one and when I seen it I was just like "Okay lol" and shrugged.
Now, they only eat rat.

Yes, the 'dude' 8-) saying 'Skyfall' brought back bad 'memz' for Bond, which is why he stormed out.
It might be thought of as important as it shows that Bond keep some memories locked away and doesn't like talking about some aspects of his past, and that the finale at Skyfall lodge is not only Bond confronting the villian, but also the bad memories, as in going back there is confronting the demons within himself, and by doing so he can find some solace, a bit like realising Vesper's true intentions at the end of QoS

Christ, i think my 'psychologomter' just buried the needle.

I agree, Bond didn't want any of his past being dragged up
for a "Get in touch with your feelings " and being all Girly :))

I think he also found the whole thing a bit beneath him, you can see it on his face.... like "really? I have to do this...?"

And when the word Skyfall was said, it was "enough!"

Can't remember what he scored in his psychological evaluation... Silva reads it out doesn't he?... but not surprised he failed :))

Yes, Bond did find the whole thing a bit beneath him. Perfectly expressed when asked to respond to "Day"........"Wasted".

Bond thinks he scored 70 in the marksmanship evaluation but Silva tells him he actually scored 40 and then goes to his computer and reads out the rest.

I think the whole scene is fantastic. A real snapshot of where Bonds 'at' in just a few well chosen words.

Very clever on all fronts I think!

Surprised that no one's getting this - - "Skyfall" has the implied meaning "The sky is falling." That's where the title of the movie (and the name of the manor) come from, right? If the sky is falling then something is . . .

    done.

His reply was 100% correct. AND, of course - the test itself was done. Word-Association Tests form a predictable pattern - the "surprise" is at the end - so in addition to his angry and somewhat snippy reply - he was also right there, the test REALLY WAS over. So he was 100% correct on three fronts. And leaping ahead thought-wise, it also would be where the villain would meet his end and find himself done.

Essentially, of course, in-between the lines, he told the psychologist to go screw himself. ;)

And something to consider - at the beginning of the scene, he glances at the one-way mirror - he knew "M" was watching.

Essentially he wasn't even talking to the psychologist.
He was talking to M and telling her "LOOK this is a waste
of time - no I'm not 100% fit for duty right now, OBVIOUSLY,
but this guy's dangerous and I can handle this -
This is bullsh*t, get me back OUT there! ;)

M understood that and approved him for duty.

-{ Agreed Bond was "Talking " to M in the scene. I love her Reaction
When Bond answers "Bitch " to the question "M", her exasperated sigh
is so funny. :)) along with Mallory's "This is going well ".

One of the better scenes, though you sense it was in a first draft where Bond had returned brainwashed and had tried to bump off M maybe, as taken from the opening of TMWTGG - then sent out in a battered way to get Scaramanga or Silva, almost as an M revenge.

I don't think 'Skyfall' has an implied meaning at all.... it was purely a reference to his childhood home....

and as we've discussed before, he didn't want his past dragged up... so that is why he said 'done'

    And

I thought he was meaning, he would rather spend his day getting wasted... as in drunk, rather than a waste of his time... but that was just my initial interpretation :))
