    A unique portfolio of 8.5" x 6.5" black & white archival plates have just been secured by The Modest Collection detailing the build of the two 1966 Aston Martin DB007 Specials created by Aston Martin Lagonda for Prince Andrew and Prince Riza, the son of The Shah of Persia.

    Some of these images have been seen before in Dave Worrall's masterpiece The Most Famous Car in the World however I believe this is the first time on AJB007 that the full 50 year old portfolio has been seen? Regrettably some of the images are fading away :(

    DSC03290.jpg

    Every panel was fabricated by hand on the same production line which the full size DB5 sports cars were assembled on. Sorry Propshop but this is the attention to detail which should have gone into your Bond miniature DB5 & oh yes every gadget worked including the rear discharge smoke canisters! -{

    The bumpers for the DB007 Special were specially made in the Company's experimental department

    A rare survivor from 1969 which my good friend Acacia_Avenue may possibly describe as "more paper tat?" however this "piece of tat" is actually an incredibly rare "Letter from M" which was sent out to cinema managers by United Artists to advertise & therefore potentially book the forthcoming James Bond film Adventure "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

    DSC03313.jpg
    As can be clearly seen, the official looking piece of print contained a major story line spoiler!

    The discreet manila envelope which measures just 6" x 3.5" contained a single sheet measuring 6.5" x 5" which was printed in probably tens of thousands? (cost to Cinema managers in 1969 was the princely sum of £4 and 5 shillings per 1000 units including envelopes. One just sold on ebay for in excess of £400/$600!) was intended to be handed out to the cinema going public attending other screenings, handed out on bulk to local businesses to covertly tuck into customer's shopping bags or be stuck inside windows to catch the eye of passing shoppers. Hell you could probably wipe ur ass with them? (Pete :D).

    Featured on page 3 of The UK Campaign (press) book for On Her Majesty's secret Service & page 219 of Charles Helfenstein's excellent "The Making of On Her Majesty's Secret Service", this is the only example this collector has physically seen in the flesh so to speak.

    DSC03318.jpg

    It is hoped that when the Asprey "Angels of Death" vanity case goes to official exhibition during 2016 the letter and envelope will proudly be displayed with the prop as its content is a perfect companion piece for the deadly contents of the case.....over to you Meg -{

    Lover-ly. A Fleming reader would know the plotline but the "world" domination showed the movie Blofeld was thinking bigger than the UK. Charles has an extraordinary depth and breadth of paper on Bond (and microfiche!) and perhaps he can supply items for the Modest Museum Show!

    Yes Sir Acacia of Avenue....more paper tat! :D

    Something a little bit unusual which on the surface appears to be an 11" x 8.5" original United Artists Press Release for Goldfinger dated October 14th 1964 however it is actually a rare 4 page biography on actor Sean Thomas Connery which includes his vital statistics on page 4, Born: August 25th 1930, Where: Edinburgh, Scotland, Height: 6ft 2", Hair: (yeah right!) Brown, Weight: 190 Lbs, Eyes: Brown. Currently resides in Acton, London. Donkey is surprised they did not list his full address and telephone number! -{

    EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES TURNS TO EXCITEMENT!

    An incredibly rare press photo of the Thunderball Aston Martin DB5 tour car FMP 7B (identified as FMP because of the leather strips protecting the chrome bumpers) taken October 1966 at the Southgate Shopping Centre in the US.

    The amazing thing is not only is the child in the photo named but as you will see from the press clipping taped on the back of the photo the paper also published his address!...How times change! :s

    Thunderball received its Gala Premiere on December 29th 1965 however it did not go on general release until 1966 therefore 2016 is the 50th Anniversary of this classic movie & this is quite a find to celebrate that anniversary. An original ticket from the premiere held at 8.30pm on 29/12/65 at the London Pavillion, Piccadilly, W1. A screening also took place at the Rialto Theatre, Coventry Street, W1. This is the only surviving example this collector has seen, even in print! -{

    The black tie programme for the evening at The London Pavillion only was as follows:

    The Metropolitan Police band

    A Pink Panther cartoon

    THUNDERBALL

    Back in 1977 when Corgi released their C269 The Spy Who Loved Me Lotus Esprit, Eidai Grip of Japan released their own slightly larger than Corgi version whose features more accurately replicated those seen on screen. Marcel's creation was magnificent but on this occasion "Japan Did it Better" :D
    Like Corgi, Eidai Grip produced colourful point of sale store window posters although this "paper tat" rarity is the only example this collector has ever seen or even been previously hinted of. Measuring 42.5cm x 31cm the poster is printed on a non-glossy stock similar to the stock Japanese movie posters are printed on....Donkey really loves this -{
