Bond and Eve - Did They or Didn't They - Spoiler

I am curious as to what others believe happened when Eve showed up at Bond's hotel room and helped him clean up. He starts to unbutton her blouse, but she stops him and continues giving him a "close shave". My take-away was that nothing happened after that. Reading some reviews it appears others think something did happen. Would make a difference as to how one would interpret their future relationship.

My guess is, only Eve and Bond know for sure :007)
From memory, Moneypenny says to Bond in Goldeneye, "As I recall, you never had me" or words to that effect. There's also the "Close, but no cigar" line in The World Is Not Enough. By referring to the past I'd like to assume Naomie Harris is the same Moneypenny as portrayed by Lois Maxwell, Caroline Bliss and Samantha Bond, not a new re-booted alternate universe version where things can be different.
Wrong - I suspect they deliberately did not show it so as to keep us guessing and maintain the element of mystery to their relationship.
I'm with you Dryden...it kinda follows on from when Connery/Maxwell played the roles and they decided that they would play their scenes together as though they had once gone out together...
Agreed. I think we are forever supposed to wonder what the nature of their relationship was or is in the moments we never saw.
I do.
I like the fact we don't know, and for me, it makes a great discussion -{
I also think they have good chemistry, and will be good to see where it goes in Bond 24! :007)
Couldn't agree more!
Well...she has signed on for the next one...but I know that's no guarantee...
IMO, they did. There´s a curve in her character; first she´s in the field, and does what he does, driving cars, shooting guns, and all the rest...Then she realises she´s no good for field work (and implied IMO, one night stands). But she will miss everything.
In the scene immediately following the shave - when Bond and Eve are in the casino in Macau - they're bantering thru their headsets about hands and how four hands are better than two - suggesting that they used their hands quite a bit the night before.
Its obviously left purposely vague since you're never supposed to be 100% sure whether Bond and Moneypenny ever got it on. That's something best left to each viewer's imagination and the film keeps it just vague and open-ended enough to let each person come to their own conclusion.
Sorry but can't agree. I thought the chemistry was very evident between them and set up (hopefully) the future flirting - couldn't think of another word - very nicely.
Didn't fireworks go off to sort of signify the deed being done?
Roger Moore 1927-2017
Never in all my days could I see this as being the reason tbh.
Just think that it's to keep us guessing as to what happened (if anything) and to help with the future teasing / flirting with each other.
I know some people like to pretend that DAD never happened in 2002, but this is taking it too far! )
LMAO!!!!! I actually FINALLY got the blu ray box set on the weekend and my missus would only let me watch one if she could choose the film, guess what she chose lol . yup DAD!!
That's pretty interesting. I've read a lot about and watched many of the Bond DVD featurettes but never really paid attention to whatever Connery and Maxwell had to say about their roles, the assumptions they've taken with their characters, etc. Of all the Bonds I surprise myself for neglecting that since I've been interested about the Bond actors' insight on their interpretations from Lazenby onwards.
My assumptions on the Bond/Moneypenny relationship just from observation, including Connery and Maxwell's turn, is the irony of how Bond beds women indiscriminately to only tease and hold out on Moneypenny, whose desperation is even hinted at by Tanaka saying that giving Bond a bath is something Moneypenny would very much like to do (but hasn't).
...unless it wasn't a wink and it was purely incidental...
oh well, I too thought there was plenty of chemistry between the too, and Mendes nailed it again with Harris' interpretation of Moneypenny (attractive enough to merit a second 'up and down' of her figure!), but not quite a femme fatale aka bond girl.
