Skyfall Omega Aqua Terra

I must admit I was not initially attracted to the new Aqua Terra watch sported by 007 when we were leaked pics of him running around London last year during filming etc, however on my trip back home to the UK last month I found the Aqua Terra a beautiful piece and stood out in the jeweller shops windows every time I passed!!

Anyhow my dealer has cut me a discount of over 10% and also will take VAT off so im pretty tempted as it would be a grand off UK list price.

Anybody have this watch? I believe Stefan is going to write a review at some point of his (hint hint) but wondering if any other AJB members have one?

It appeals to me as it is really non-sporty looking and would look good for more formal occasions!

Strangely Omega continue to market the PO as the Skyfall watch even though the Aqua Terra is really the Skyfall watch if we go by time on the wrist throughout the film. The PO comes off his wrist very early

The newest adition to Bond, the po is similar to the one in qos , when we think skyfall omega we think at. At that price it will be such a wasted opportunity not to get it. Im sure that will be the best price youll be able to get. Maybe omega will offer a discount but we will have to wait 2 years.

Yeah I really am not tempted by the Skyfall PO as I own the Casino Royale version!!!

Regarding Skyfall does anybody remember 007 wearing a watch in the final shootout in his Barbour gear etc

It's a beautiful watch! I bought the new Seamaster 300M in ceramic, even more beautiful IMO. A very good friend of mine is a official Omega dealer, so I always get 35% discount on Omega :D. They actually don't make any money on selling me a watch. The profit on Omega watches are quite low.

Nice!!! The Ceramic Seamaster is pretty cool and this time last year I thought it had been udpated to make a re-appeance in Skyfall!

I already have a Seamaster 300M (Casino Royale) as well as the PO (Casino Royale also) hence the AT appealing to me

    Hey Welshie,

I bought the AT a few weeks ago and it is beautiful. I wasn't quite sure when they announced the blue AT, but it has a good design with the contrasting dial. It goes with any occasion.

It seems you're getting a fantastic deal - go for it!

006, cool glad your enjoying your AT, the blue dial is sure striking!!

I was reading up about it over on other watch forums, I believe Omega have confirmed it was DC personally who said he wanted the AT for Skyfall hence there appears to be quite a few theorys that DC did not want to wear the PO this time round but since EON are contractually obliged to feature it thus the two watches and PO's small screen time (PTS)

Yeah I really hoped it will appear in Skyfall. I do understand you want the AT, it will fit nicely in your collection. If I already had the Seamaster 300 from CR, I would not have bought the newer Seamaster ceramic. The AT is a great watch, but what makes the AT special is the blue dial IMO. It's a great dress watch too.

    Welshboy,

Sounds like a great deal to me, is that about 2.6k then ?

IMO the AT is a more 007-appropriate watch now, I do generally like the PO but even in its present, more modest 42mm form, it's too big now, very thick I believe.

I too have a hankering for the Aqua Terra but funds are tight at the moment (when aren't they 8-) ?), I have my SMP 'Electric Blue' up for trade against the previous AT on one of the watch forums but no takers yet and TBH the SMP is such a fantastic watch, think I'm gonna hang on to it.

I tried the Skyfall AT on a few weeks ago in my local Omega AD, really nice watch, the blue is quite dark and subtle in most lighting, the in-house 8500 movement is superb and I was offered a fantastic trade-in on my SMP, but no damn cash available, sacre bleu !!!

Think you have to go for it chief.

    Gomers,

Yes it was £2,580 plus postage (VAT off and another 10% ish off)

    Will make decision today!

The Skyfall PO does not really appeal to me for some reason, im sure its fantastic etc but was only last year I got the Casino Rubber strap version (also bought the bracelet) hence my PO gas is well and truely satisfied, as mentioned earlier I find the dial stunning and like the fact it seems to be a more appropriate "dress" watch though of course suitable with anything else!!

All scenes after 'Enjoying Death' as far as I'm aware, you're first aware of it when DC is suited up again in the office after his MI6 assessment (he checks the time although you don't see the watch). Assume he has it on for the remainder of the film.

Welshboy, I've made the decision for you, BUY IT ;)

It's a lovely looking watch. Which Casino Royale PO do you have (model number, size)? That's the first watch I would like to get, then the AT later (after recovering from the shock of the PO expense/appeasing my girlfriend) :)

I have the XL PO from Casino Royale, I actually bought the one with the steel bracelet (its the identical same watch just diff strap) and then bought the Rubber Strap from Omega so I could change it (though I have only used on rubber). It worked out cheaper that way rather then buying the watch with rubber and late adding the steel bracelet as an extra from Omega.

Thanks for the information! Is it the 2201.50.00? I am thinking of doing exactly what you describe. I'm torn between buying it here in Japan, or trying to haggle for a good deal in the UK. Gorgeous timepiece.

The watch in CR is model number 2900.50.91

I bought the bracelet version 2200.50.00 and added the rubber strap to make it into the above!

Hope that helps!! I see they are quite cheap now used etc and you see minty ones about

PS - The 2201.50.00 is the smaller 42mm one he wore in QoS!

Reminds me how much things have changed, Brosnan wore the same model for 3 films (4 films if you count that Goldeneye is the same watch visually but Quartz)

Now we seem to get 2 new watches per film lol $$$$$$

    Not at all!

I'm not sure how I made that mistake. I must have too many tabs open. You're quite right and I stand corrected!

I think I slightly prefer the one in Casino Royale, but haven't tried either on, and really need to try many on, in many sizes, before buying.

Thanks for the confirmation, in any case. Not the easiest model numbers!

Haha - I know what you mean, Omega model numbers drives me nuts!!!!!!

Yeah I really like the rubber strap and the big PO with option to change! I thought it might be too big but I love it! When im out on jobs where I could get a few knocks etc I wear usually wear the Rubber Strap PO instead of my other watches

Nice idea. Are the straps easy to change?

Do they still sell the watch from Casino Royale at all? I'm still unsure of size, but the Planet Ocean models all look extremely similar to me. Can't wait to treat myself ;)

Its discontinued now but I think some online sellers still stock the last they have of them.

I have not actually changed the strap, when I bought it I asked the shop to put the rubber strap on and I never bothered to change back to steel bracelet mainly because I have a Submariner that I wear!!

Swapping between strap and bracelet is relatively easy as long as you have the right tool. Get a Bergeon springbar tool, don't get a cheap copy, they break.

There is a bit of a knack to it, I find it works best if you stick your tongue out :))
