Skyfall Lodge Jacket, budget alternative

Found this on the Target website... not an exact match, but seems to have a similar rugged look...

http://www.target.com/p/converse-one-star-men-s-jacket-stuffed-olive/-/A-14106302#prodSlot=large_2_1

Unfortunetly, it shows as "out of stock" at all the Target's near me...

Not sure what color it really is as they say green and I see brown. Add some patches then wax and you would have a similar jacket.

That's actually not a bad alternative but the color is way too light. I'm sure you could dye it to be the olive Barbour color. I picked up a hat from a Barbour store the other day when I went to try and pre-order the actual jacket and it's a very dark brownish-green color.

It also won't have much of a lining. I just sold my Barbour because it was too tight under the arms. I have a couple in larger sizes on order. But I also ordered this since it was only $30.

that moda one is the closest ive seen by far. Dye it a darker color, swap out the buttons for wood colored ones and so are actually good to go!

The Eddie Bauer Kettle Mountain jacket seems to be a nice, affordable alternative to the Barbour jacket as well. Check out the pics and video from the link below. Also, if you read the reviews of the jacket, a Barbour devotee actually chose to buy this jacket over the Barbour. Food for thought...I'm seriously considering this jacket as the Barbour is a little too pricey for me at the moment. Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Just a quick update to my post above. I tried to order online but it seems Eddie Bauer is out of these in Medium and Large. I may call or stop in my local store to see if this is an annually produced item or if it was just for this season. There's always ebay, I guess...

Only a size small in stock. I may look at the one on Eddie Bauer if they have talls in stock.

    EDIT: No more talls 8-)

I remember looking at that Eddie Bauer jacket online and the thing that turned me off was the flap on the back of it. And it's almost the same price as a Barbour Bedale or something of that sort.

Johnston and Murphy has a jacket on their website that is an ehh... alternative. I tried it on in the store and it seemed decent but I didn't want to pick it up. I'm going to keep hoping I can get my hands on an actual lodge jacket in January.

I called Eddie Bauer on the courtesy phone in my local store and they informed me that the Kettle Mountain jacket, although not currently available, should be ready again as a Spring item...they were guessing mid February for availability.

Funny, I also called them and they didn't seem to have a clue when it would be available again. I guess depends who you get on the horn.

I have trawled the Internet for a lodge alternative that is not only a lot cheaper but also retains the feeling of Bond 'uniqueness' if that makes sense.... I REALLY think you guys should check out this alternative Barbour:

    http://m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/Barbour/Barbour-Truefit-Waxed-Jacket/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1759799

It's a slim-fit waxed jacket, which are almost impossible to find, plus it has Bond-sequence lapels so the fit and styling are bang-on Bond, if not exactly like the lodge jacket. Sold out in a few shops but I googled 'Barbour true fit waxed blazer' and got one for £110. It's being delivered soon so if anyone cares ill put up some pics of something. Hope this helps!

Hi, did you get the Truefit Barbour jacket in the end? What's the verdict? It looks like just what I'm after....

Hi rlloyd and welcome to AJB.

I bought the Barbour Truefit earlier this year from the Barbour outlet in Freeport Braintree in Essex, UK, and I'm delighted with it - a great cost-effective alternative.

Thanks for the welcome. Think I might have to hunt one down. What's the fit like on it ? I prefer more fitted so the Barbour Beacon Heritage sounded perfect, just over my budget.

It's quite loose fitting but I could only get a large (I'm probably more of a medium). Like the Tolito, mits looser at the bottom but more snug at the top. I will probably try to get it tailored at some point.

    Good luck!
