Crockett and Jones Islay boots

Has anyone bought a pair of these? They look really nice, I would love a pair if I had $750 to spend on shoes.

How do they fit and are they really designed to go trodding out in the swamps and mud of the highlands in Scotland?

Agree with nico (towards the en of the thread he posted) they are true to size and just beautiful

    Very comfortable and luxurious

Haven't "yomped" in them yet - prob never will- so no idea I they look as good when u peel all that mud off them.

But as someone once said, these boots are good enough to wear to bed :)

    Hi,
I'm wanting to pull the trigger on these, but need help on sizing. I normally go by U.S. sizing and on a brannock device I'm about a 10D. I wear a 9.5D in Alden's Trubalance and Barrie lasts. Size 10 in Converse Chuck Taylors, Size 10.5 M/D in my Keen work boots, and size 11 in Nike. With all these to compare to I'm a bit lost. I'm leaning towards size 9 UK, but am worried about them being too small after spending 30pounds on shipping. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Whenever buying proper shoes always ask an actual expert and not an Internet expert. Find out who your nearest stockist is from C&J and talk to them or ask C&J. I find them very helpful but not as much as my stockist who is a Master of fitting shoes to feet. Every shoe/boot will not fit every feet. Depends on many variables not least of which is the height and length of your arch. Depth also plays a part so the correct insole is also a must.

Thank you for you quick reply. That's the problem with living in Alaska though, closest I'll find is a Red Wing stockist. I posted in Style Forum as well hoping someone owned Aldens and a pair of C&J. It's hard to get advice over the Internet, but its also hard to get myself to a place that carries Islays. I'll try to get in contact with Barney's maybe. Thank you again,

I was thinking of getting these as a close enough option. The benefit being that their Aldens and I already know my size, also the commando sole does well in winter weather. I really would like to get my first pair of C&Js, I hear they're amazingly made and equally comfortable....

After talking with a few people on Style Forum that had Aldens and C&Js I'm fairly certain I picked the right size. The retailer I originally planned to purchase from was actually sold out of my size even though it was listed otherwise. So I ended up doing a pre-order through christopherforbesshoes.com since everywhere is sold out it seems. They require a 50% deposit and are expecting to ship mid February if anyone is still looking to pick these up.

I don't see the pre-order through their site. Looks like they have stock in my size at least, as it's taking me through the entire checkout process.

Sorry, I should mentioned that. Their customer service told me via email that you just place an order as normal and they would only charge the 50% deposit. They're probably closed now, but Alstair the customer service rep that responded to my email was very helpful. If you have questions before placing the order I would shoot him a message

    Guys

If you are having any trouble getting hold of the boot / shoe size etc

Go on the C and J site and look up the Burlington Arcade store email. Ask to speak to either Yukiko or David. Both are equally amazing and will source what you want / need

Got me Islays / Tetburys / Highbury in 8.5E within a month. posted out etc. First class. Just tell them Mark from Yarm on AJB sent you and they will sort you out !!!

I checked with the Burlington Arcade shop mentioned above hoping to source a pair sooner than February. They were not able to source the Islays in my size, but Yukiko did inform me that they are taking pre-orders for the next shipment they receive. I believe you would pay the full amount up front, but you are ordering diecrtly from a C&J shop, so I figure that pretty much garauntees delivery.
I'd order through them, but I'm already pre-ordered through Christopher Forbes as mentioned earlier in the topic. Both stores have amazing customer service.
