Well Skyfall arrived and in respect to clothing/collectors terms its already "gone" for some of us due to the vast amount of info found and revealed by all the great members of AJB!! Judging by the threads here its fair to say that (for the fortunate people) a fast "sweep up" of Skyfall clothing and accessories has been successful or unsuccessful due to items limited in availability. Personally for me this has resulted in digging away at older stuff that I never collected! Last week myself and Jared_Nomak (Ross) ended up discussing the old Brosnan ties. Checking through the archives of threads I know a lot of you guys have had great success getting T&A to make the odd Brosnan Tie, on the flip-side there have been some terminated projects (no fault of the members but mainly lack of response or hitches at the tie makers end)
Anyhow Ross and I want more Brosnan ties hence this "2013 Turnbull & Asser "Brosnan" Tie Re-issue Project" thread which I hope does not fall flat on its arse.
Due to the Christies Auction catalogue finally revealing the Bilbao tie colours (and also Meesta's great pics) I contacted T&A Bespoke department with the detailed auction picture of the tie (see attached). I did not mention Bond but I had a instant and very positive response, firstly asking me if I was a James Bond fan and more importantly that this tie should not be a problem! Ross and I decided that since we have suitable pics readily available it makes sense to start the project with this tie. This tie also seems to have caused a lot of talk over the years due to the reflective nature of this tie on film which has misled probably all of us in the past (though blu ray does hint at the correct colour!)
The cost of each tie will be a reasonable £110. At this point I am unsure if this includes delivery, therefore for precaution I suggest bear in mind an added "potential" £10-15 delivery fee, therefore people can have a final idea of price in mind.
To get this project off the ground we need to raise £220 (a minimum of 4 ties is required with a 50% deposit to get production of swatches). To get this project underway as fast as possible, Ross and I are happy to pay this ourselves up front (basically it is a case of us paying for each of our ties in advance).
Now the important points (if anybody has better ideas please suggest, wont be offended)
1) The production could take up to 5-6 months (this is the lead time given by T&A but I hope it wont be as long as that)
2) Ross and I are by no means a 007 Tie expert! I want the people interested in this project to be fully involved, that means we will share the details and as a group agree on any details hence WE AS A GROUP CHOOSE THE SWATCH before production goes full steam ahead.
3) Although im Welshboy ) I no longer live in the UK. Ross resides in the UK and obviously in a better position to handle the payments and delivery of the ties if this project is successful and goes ahead.
4) We don't want to charge anything to anybody until T&A are ready to rock and roll! We dont like to sit on money etc until T&A want payment! Therefore once the Swatch is agreed I guess it is at this point that people will decide if they want to jump on board or not etc hence here is where I suggest we will finalise numbers and collect payment
5) If this project is successful I have The British Airways tie lined up and several members have in their posession the other rare ties that were not reissued etc and will hopefully provide photos in due course.
Although we do not need any numbers at this point it might still be good to confirm any interest so we have an approximate idea what size project this could potentially be!
Anyhow here is what we are aiming for - the Bilbao Tie (pic from Christies auction)
Christies Description
Finally as mentioned above - for future ties if anybody owns and can provide good pics of the other ties please drop me a line!
Monza has the correct DAD British Airways tie and happy for me to use his pics (Thanks!)
Bring Back Lazenby has a lot of these ties and can hopefully get us pictures on his return to the UK.
I have the Hamburg TND Copper Tie (believe this one was not possible to re-produce but im happy to try again)
If anybody else can help also that would be fantastic.

Thanks for working this out Welshboy and Ross!

EDIT: damn, the street price is 85 quid. Cant believe the bespoke tie is 110. Being in the colonies, this sucks
P.S. I agree that they're not being sporting about the cost. T&A USA made the other herringbone price at standard cost (providing we had a minimum order of two).
If the show is still on in Toronto, maybe one of our Canadian friends could see if they are still selling them, and if so, which ones are available?
Could save some people some time and a few quid...

I bet these are the ones for sale that you saw as the others have not been in production for years (and is what we are trying to get redone)
Cheers!
This is something that also crossed my mind and going to ask, I presume they should have swatches of all their ties.
I am dealing with James Cook who I believe has personally had some background on T&A ties with regards to Bond films. Don't quote me on that, think somebody mentioned on one of the other threads that he is very familiar with the ties and also confirmed the Bilbao true colour a while back to Matt S
Anyhow I will certainly ask about all this tomorrow to get down to the nitty gritty so to speak!
I asked T & A about producing the Brosnan ties about two years ago. I was told that the minimum order was twelve ties. I was told that I would need to produce the design as they no longer had the original design on record. T & A said that it was standard practice to bin the design template once they decided to no longer make the tie. They actually told me that I would need to provide evidence it was a T & A tie in the first place so they were sure they were not copying someone's else's design!
I think Matt S (I could be wrong) stated in another thread that the bilbao tie might have the same navy and brown as the Hamburg tie (except with the navy now being the more dominant color). I wonder if he's on to something with that? Hemming may have indeed liked the way those two colors played on film and reused them in commissioning the Bilbao tie.
Selling where? No ties were sold at the show. I don't think there is a T&A store in Canada.
To : B549 WUU : They still produce similar ties. For example, the Hamburg (TND) tie, it was still possible to have it made in all the other colours, but not the right one.
Great to see the AJB fan spirit still being alive! -{
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Yes, that was me. Hemming really seems to like the blue and brown combination and coordinated Bond's outfits in a way that men usually wouldn't. If you look at the Bilbao suit in the close-up photos in the Christie's catalogue pdf, you'll see that the charcoal suit has navy and brown threads in it. The navy and brown in the chevron tie brings that out. The Hamburg tie is the same colour combination, and that charcoal suit probably has navy and brown in it as well. Plus, the light blue in the Hamburg tie matches the light blue in the shirt. In GoldenEye, the Prince of Wales suit is blue and sand (light brown) and the tie matches.
Hemming also has a few other outfits for Brosnan that she does different variations on. She likes navy semi-solid suits. The navy birdseye suits in GE and TND are both worn with cream shirts and navy and gold/bronze ties. You can see other patterns in her clothing choices as well.
That's really interesting. Do you think you could do an article on your website in which you talk about the overarching patterns in Hemming's clothing choices for Brosnan?
Yes, it's something I could do. I'm going to have a few more articles on individual Brosnan suits soon, and then I can write about that.
Believe me I have been tempted to do this however a fair few of these projects have been terminated in the past for various reasons and also it would require a lot more money "up front" hence the plan is to see how this one goes and if looking good then maybe try and speed things up - I believe this is the sensible option to start with.
What we would not want not do is start taking money up front to pay for more tie development and then something backfires, people unhappy and we get lynched and have a scenario like the recent Coffin "cufflink"project on our hands!!
Totally understand. Maybe once we get the swatch approved of the first tie and know it's going to be a success, we can start with the other two.
Yup. This is sort of what we had in mind.
Anybody have The Secret World of James Bond book? I believe there is good pic of three of the other ties
