Well before turning in for the night I thought I'd check here to see if any responce had been given, must say its not a great shock to see nothing posted.
Personally, to take a kit that's available for £55 inc shipping from the states, build it and then charge at least £275 and have a BIN of £595 (reduced from the initial £750) is a down right cheek.
I know people say that something is worth as much as anyone wants to pay etc, but in this case I can't see anything but a con taking place, and I don't like to see people get fleeced.
The ebay ad states to ask questions, I did.
In fact, in some sense I was actually doing you a favour. Who knows, there might have been someone wondering and they walked away as the high price and no reason why put them off? A small explanation might be a good idea to resolve any concerns a potential buyer might have.
However, from what I can see, it's not scratch built, it's not signed, there's no display base or case, no rare additional items included or any other obvious reason (such as a charity auction) to justify the price to be so high.
But maybe I'm still missing something, and a simple explanation will set everything straight?
If this is the case, then you have my sincere apologies.
I'll tell you what you're 'missing', mate - it's none of your god damn business what I or anyone else sells their stuff for. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
I've been told in the past 'oh, you'll only get £400 for it' - and I've gone on to sell things for £2k+. I have a policy of pricing high then reducing until I find a buyer. But whose business is that but mine and mine only? Who appointed you arbiter of collectables pricing? No other forum would tolerate this kind of crap on a sales thread. As moderators haven't removed your first (or the above post) then I assume they endorse your behaviour?
FYI, I paid circa £300 for this commission build so I would like that back at least, hence the start price below that. The Buy Now saves people the trouble of bidding and/or getting it commissioned etc etc etc... if they choose to. CHOICE.
I think you're way out of line - and you're part of the reason I'm out of collecting; it's full of **** like you. Yes, the eBay listing says to ask questions - so use eBay to ask them.

Ok, to address a few of your points ) gimme 5 mins to stop laughing though.
Ok, so you paid £300 for this 'commission build', so I'm assuming you ain't even built the model, you paid someone else to. You'd like to see your money back. Sorry bub, but it don't work like that.
A guy charged you £300 to build your model, the majority of that cost would be for the guy's time. So what you're saying is you're going to charge someone else (potential buyer) for the guys time, and then stack on some more.... for what?
Think about it, if someone wanted this, why would they pay DOUBLE for yours instead of doing what you did in the first place and get someone to build their model for them, or even cheaper, buy the model for a about a SIXTH of your starting price (a TENTH if the buyer was in the states) and do it themselves?
Start high and come down.... is this your modus operandi for everything? In which case, can I have some? Cos 'dat seemz 2 be sum gud sh11t u gotz smokin' bro'.
It's not my business what people sell, for what reason or how much they think is a fair price, but it's my right to ask a question, the same as anyone else has that right.
Ok, so you can always come down in price but for christs sake be reasonable.
I'm not the board spokesman for collecting, or a mod etc etc.
I'm just a regular member who posts a load of guff, occasionally speaks his mind and excersises his right to free speech. I wasn't trying to point fingers or 'call you out', I was merely asking a question, one to which you responded by chucking your rattle instead of giving a reasonable explanation. You didn't even have to answer. Plus, boasting about past sales is irrelevant, boasting and unsupported 'evidence' so I'm not sure what you were hoping to achieve with that comment. Did it ever occur to you that I might have been a potential buyer who was simply enquiring as to why the price was what it was?......
I think I've basically said what some others have thought, one thing is for sure I've said what I think, and by your winy petulant responce I think I've probably touched a nerve. Diddums. You say you're getting out of collecting, which is probably a good thing for you, as you've obviously seen it not as something of an enjoyment or interest but more of an investment or money maker. I'm sorry this scheme appears to be not working for you.
Good luck with your next venture, I hope you don't try to rip too many off with it whatever it may be, that way everyone gets something positive out of it.

PS, as Tep pointed out, the collecting thread ain't strictly for sales, there's a dedicated ebay thread for that....
Edit; Furthermore 'mate' it's YOUR kind that piss me off. You registered around the same time as me, yet your post count as considerably lower.
Other members, myself included have brought some great unique items to this forum, items you wouldn't find anywhere else in some cases, from replica props and outfits to engaging with companies to revive extinct production runs, do competitions and provide members here with that chance to purchase truly rare items.
What did you bring to the table?
What you've done here is tap into a 100% FREE advertising service. Not only that but you advertise here for free, to a hard core of potential buyers, that is global and your ad stays up pretty much forever.
And what did you do for the forum? Ask permission? Post in the correct thread?
No, you INSULTED people's intelligence by attempting to rip them off.
Wow, thanks for your input buddy. Getting out of collecting? Watch that door on the way out wont ya?
What a great kickstart in Asia this morning.
MG, you crack me up!
I agree with most of your points and I don't find anything bad in when experts (and I can safely say that you know a bit about modelmaking) chime in, ask questions and give their opinion.
It helps people who are less knowledegble on that field to build an opinion and find the correct pricing.
OP: If you want to complaint about your free sales ad being hijacked,
1. list your stuff in the ebay thread
2. ask yourself how much you have done for the forum and how much you "took" from it
And you are giving up collecting because of some people who are doing the same?
That does not make ANY sense to me, but it may be me

Fuel to the fire, why isn't this on "The Great eBay"- thread in the first place 8-)
You know...you are quite correct, Teppo...I should have closed this thread down and pointed the OP to the ebay thread...I apologise for that mistake ;%

I think I'd better close this thread now.
