Dalton in View to a Kill

Am I the only Person who thinks that Dalton should of started with A View to a Kill? Sure Moore was on top Form as always but because of his old Age at the time (57) some Scenes felt strange (The love Scenes mainly)

Imagine Dalton's Bond going up against Zorin? Considering how dark Zorins Character was to begin with, and how dark the two Dalton Bond Films were.

I love AVTAK. But Dalton in the role might have worked equally well. Some scenes though I'd struggle to picture Dalton in, such as the fire engine chase - it is so Roger Moore. However, some other scenes in the movie would work well with Dalton, such as the mine sequence and golden gate bridge fight.

If Dalton was in AVTAK then the movie would possibly get the respect it deserves!

I think Dalton should have done AVTAK as well as Octopussy. Moore is great in these films, especially the latter, but he's too old for the role, and, in my opinion, less suited to the more serious tone of these two films. I would have liked Dalton in FYEO as well, but coming straight off the farcical Moonraker, it would have tanked. If Moore had done FYEO and Dalton stated with OP, then Moore would have started the transition towards the darker, more realistic tone of the 80s Bond films, and Dalton could have continued the trend throughout the 80s and perhaps brought more credibility to the role.

Ideally, Dalton should have done all the '80s Bonds. Having him as 007 would have forced John Glen to get his act together & stop going for easy laughs. A VIEW TO A KILL could well have been Dalton's GOLDFINGER with the fire truck escapade having all the lame visual gags jettisoned in favour of a straightforward chase.

Moore Than

It's all very well saying Timothy Dalton should have done this or that but would the general public have accepted him any more than they did in The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill? As good an actor as he was/is he didn't have the charm/charisma/appeal of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. Perhaps it was all a matter of timing, the right man at the wrong time.

Since they re-write films for the actor currently in the role, the gags could've been taken out of AVTAK. But overall AVTAK is probably the most violent of all the Moore films and Dalton probably would've been better for it.

Moore would've had a great swansong with OP and Dalton would have had a 3rd film. Everybody wins.

I can often picture Bond actors in Bond films they weren't in, but I really can't picture Dalton in AVTAK, and there aren't even many gags in the film. Perhaps in the California scenes, but not in the first half at all. I can't picture him having dinner at the Eiffel Tower. Dalton would not be able to pull off James St. John Smythe. So much of the film is just so well-suited for an older Bond. Dalton could have done FYEO and OP well, but Moore was fantastic in those two films.

I would have loved for that to happen.

But even better would have been for him to start at FYEO, and go through to GE.

OP and AVTAK would have needed some re-writing to acommodate his style a bit better, but I think that would have been a great tenure for him.

+1. With a little tweaking in the scripts (cutting out the schtick and beefing up the seriousness) Tim would have been great. -{
