I've just finished reading Icebreaker by John Gardner, it was an ok story, bit confusing in places but the thing that totally spun me was the car being a Saab.
A Saab?!
My old history teacher had a bloody Saab!
For Bond's car there really is only one contender;
The return of the vanquish;
That front diffuser is nice and spacious enough for some rockets and m/c guns

You got the right idea with Aston, but the Vanquish brings back too many "vanish" memories. The vantage is a nice little car Bond can speed around in, with a cool machine gun in the back.

Now that is something. I feel that Bond audience would really take a shine to a Bentley, it could be the new DB5. But the question is, would it be pimped out with gadgets?

the new vanquish is pretty damn sexy!!

It'd be nice to see Craig Bond drive a Bentley - either an old or new one - nice nod back to Fleming!

You all are hung up on brand names. I'm thinking what KIND of car Fleming had Bond own (not issued).
I never understood Gardner having him choose the 900S turbo, above the performance appeal. The personal mods were interesting, though I dunno why Bond would pay for such things. Though I loved the aircraft landing light behind the front license plate!
Thank goodness! Thought next someone would start suggesting a Suzuki Swift.
But guessing how the series is going, with SF out, Bond would most likely be in an Aston

Hate to say it, but seldom does an American car appeal to me.
Each into their own, but for bond a yank mobile ain't right.
Gotta be British, but remember, Bond had the DBS in CR to go with his cover of wealthy gambler 'Mr Arlington-Beech', he had another in QoS, guess you could put that down to him liking it and buying another, but god knows how cos Gettler made off with the coin in CR, deep pockets Me Bond?
So will DC drive an Aston in Bond 24?
It's either gonna be either to fit the plot, or a mutual product placement scheme....
Will EoN have Bond in an Aston to meet the fans expectations or will they go with a generous product placement deal with AM, or put the plot first and have Bond drive something else more fitting with the storyline?
Just caught up with this.
In Skyfall, Bond says "Trouble with company cars is that they have trackers" (Or words to that effect) and then gets into the DB5 which appears to be in storage with the rest of his belongings. Both imply that the DB5 in Skyfall is Bond's personal property and not that of MI6. This means the DB5's we see in other Bond films (Excluding CR) could be the original DB5, it's just that the gadgets aren't used.
As someone pointed out, it would make more sense if Bond's own DB5 was the one from CR without machine guns and ejector seat yet it appears that Bond grew so fond of the Goldfinger DB5, he asked and was obviously given permission to keep it. This mirrors the bond between the audience and the car.
All of this and the fact that the DB5 in Skyfall is destroyed gives me the impression that the DB5 won't feature again. At least not prominently.

Don't know where you get the idea Bond is buying them himself.
True, Bonds statement about company cars would suggest the SF DB5 was Dimitrios', so why would it be ol' BMT216A, with GOLDFINGER armaments? Its continuing to nag me. :-(

Nah, hold on here, before you start mentioning pre-CR films etc, remember that CR was the reboot and all the other films before CR 'don't exist' in our new bond universe.
You could argue that the DB5 we see bond win in CR is the car in SF, but the CR DB5 is LHD, whereas its RHD in SF. Did bond have it converted at great expense? And where did the extras come from, unless Dimitrious had it kitted out?
I guess if you wanna try and fit the continuity in between the DC films then your explanation is right, with the addition of the LHD - RHD conversion, but I think the true reason that the DB5 is bond's ride in SF is simply its the 50th anniversary, how could you not have it in there?
