Nope just sent it back..... Managed to get a size M from Mr Porter.....pure fluke one just happened to be returned when I checked on the website. Size L had a 45 inch chest so sizing is crazy.
Congratulations! It doesn't look like there's much difference between M and L. The medium is .5" smaller in the shoulder and waist, and it's 1" smaller in the chest (44"). The sleeve will probably make the biggest difference (1" smaller). It looks like this jacket may have a more boxy cut than the Bond. Look at the video of the model. He's 6'1", wearing a medium, and his coat looks pretty boxy.

Between my coats, the black one is a bit more "boxy", is not as fitted, but then again it is a different cut. The Bond version has a smaller tapered waist in comparison. I had it tailored to fit the same as my choco bond version

Thanks for the input and yes you are right there does not seem much difference according to the measurements between the med and large for some reason...... Never heard of a medium jacket with a 44 inch chest! The one on the model is completely the wrong size and the advice on the website is wrong as they should be saying large fit and size down.

Hi was it a simple job to get it tailored and was it expensive?

I am extremely anal, sometimes bordering on being an as*hole when it comes to stuff like this. I take it to my tailor who works on my Brioni/Zegna/Armani stuff, so I trust him. He deconstructed the entire coat, cut the arms/sleeves at the pits to maintain the working cuffs, cut the middle/lower part (around the gut) to taper it down, then re-sewed everything back (using better thread than what came with it).
Paid 110 bucks but again, he works on 10K suits, so quality is paramount to me. You could pay way less than that, its up to you.

Actually that sounds quie reasonable.....I am based nr savile row in London so I can get mine done there but guaranteed they will rip my eyeballs out through my *sshole with the price! Bit of a risk if another tailor makes a mess of a 400 quid jacket.

(Note to self, avoid getting my balls ripped out my ass by Savile Row tailors)
It is quite reasonable, it was a simple job compared to some other stuff he's done, plus I've been using him for 5 years now, so there's a nice discount there.
Just a heads up if anyone interested I sent my M size coat back to Mr Porter....sizing and the cut on the jacket is not for me I prefer more fitted and checked with a tailor and its not worth the hassle. It will be listed on the website in next day or so as just been picked up from my office.

It seems like it's cut significantly larger, like a typical boxy peacoat.
I sent back an L for being too big....I am a size 40 in a suit. I already have the Bond peacoat in size M and it fits perfectly. I sent the L back to Mr Porter and managed to get a size M but there was hardly any difference in the sizing....total BS sizing when a size M jacket has a 44 inch chest!!! See what you think but I went to a tailor yesterday with the size M and he showed me how it was too big on the collar and to take it in on the sides would also narrow the arms and the pockets would have to be moved across....not a simple job and for me it is not worth the cost. I think it all depends on your build but I have broad shoulders and narrow waist so I need more fitted clothing tahn a boxy style jacket.
Just take a look at the product sizing on the website. The only noticeable difference between a M and a L is that the sleeves of the L are 1" longer. The torso measurements are .5"-1" different. That's not enough to make much of an impact on a boxy coat. No matter what, if you want it to fit like the Bond, you'll need alterations.
Hi
I am just about to send one back, I paid 375 for it but if you get added to the medium wait list you might be lucky and get it for 230 including postage

Hi Ross clearly you are not happy with it.... How do you feel it compares with the bond one? Is it too boxy as others have said?

if u mean me, I left em alone, theyre nice imo
Cool thanks..... Not sure if I can be arsed to get them changed and they probably look more expensive and stand out more than plain horn buttons.
They do, it gives the peacoat a more formal look. I use it as overcoat with some suits
EDIT: if you do get rid of the buttons, send me a PM, i'll take em.
It is, i posted on the thread earlier
