Differences between Tuxes, pic inside and questions

BOND_Post_Images_CAST.jpg
If you look at Ralph Fienne's tux, his is a different shade midnight blue. The Skyfall tux is lighter than that.

What throws me off is the tux DC wears. Its definitely not the skyfall version, and he mixes it with black trousers. Very ballsy and although not appropriate protocol, I dig the look. The jacket is also very heavily textured, which I think detracts from the luxurious look of wearing a tux.

That's also the same jacket he wore to the Royal Albert premiere (damn what a blast that was)

Thoughts?

    (Puts on tailoring style hat)

The jacket Daniel Craig is wearing is closer to tux / smoking jacket style. Ie a jacket of one pattern that is matched with standard dress trousers. Ben Whishaw is doing the same thing with his black velvet jacket, though that is far more traditional. There are a sharp contrast to the Skyfall dinner suit, which (like Mr Fiennes above) is a complete dinner suit, just in a different shade. - In both the film and at the premiere's Mr Craig's wardrobe is more fashion statement than classic style.
The guys who have been wearing the Skyfall style for real though won't date in look, because the cut and fit of their suits is not two sizes too small for them, unlike in the film!

    (Takes hat off)

Personally I think Mr Fiennes is just squeezing a cheeky moment!

    That cheeky monkey!

Thanks Tbird2, I do agree with your observations. Personally I would love to know who made Mr Fienne's tux, I like the hue of blue a bit better than the SF

Fiennes' dinner suit looks pretty good there. It's a classic midnight blue. A classic look and a decent fit, though it looks like the jacket is standing away from the shirt's collar slightly. A great fit always hugs the collar. And he doesn't need all that shoulder padding. But compare it to Daniel Craig, who looks like a complete mess in his awfully-fitted dinner jacket. If the point of that fit is to show off Daniel Craig's body, he must have one ugly, rippled body. It's also way too flashy and makes him look like a man who wants too much attention. It's also much, much lighter than midnight blue. Even the dinner suit in Skyfall was a shade lighter than midnight blue.

Good observation Matt. Looks like it might be a Brioni, they love strong shoulders, reminds me of Brosnan.
I think Craig sometimes should show up half naked if he wants to show off the muscles, no necessity to disservice the clothing.

In defense of the actors (Mr Craig in particular) I feel its important that this was a film premiere. The normal rules of black tie etiquette seem to go out the window to a degree, because everyone IS trying to draw PR attention. In this case Mr Craig is the focal point of this, hence the somewhat flamboyant style. Its interesting that Mr Bardem and Mr Whishaw are much more conservative and classic in their choices, as their characters are more eccentric in their costuming style in the film.

Here is Mr Craig at an awards do in November, - subtle, classic and effective! http://uk.imdb.com/media/rm1935257344/nm0185819 Ok the jacket is still a snug fit to his frame, but its a distinct improvement over the Premiere one.

I hate to say this, but it seems like the problem is Jany and not Craig. Why is it that Craig looks fantabulous in QoS? I think Louise whatever got it right.

Actually the jacket is also mean't to be worn with black trousers as a less formal but still stylish look.

    I'd say fashionable, not stylish.

I wholeheartedly agree. a Dinner jacket is not a blazer. Mix and matching evening wear into trendy outfits does not dress up the outfit, it only degrades the status of the evening wear item.

That's what put me off holding onto the River Island dinner jacket-they didn't actually do any matching trousers! :p I'd either have had to buy black trousers, which wouldn't have looked as good, or find another shop that sold trousers the same colour as the RI jacket! I still wish I held onto it-got a party coming up in 2 weeks, and it's theme is movie characters! I probably won't dress up fully now, but intend to wear my Levi's jacket, my Seamaster, and drink Heineken all night, so I will be like Bond in some way!

A midnight blue dinner jacket should always be worn with matching midnight blue trousers. It's impossible to find matching cloth. All parts of a suit need to come from the same dye lot. Differences can especially be apparent in darker clothes, most notably black. And if going with another cloth from a different mill the weave may be different, and the weight surely won't be the same.

Daniel Craig's blue dinner jacket with the black is done kind of in the same vein as the blue velvet dinner jacket in Diamonds Are Foever, yet it lacks the elegance of Connery's.

Yes, that's what I thought Matt S...I didn't want to try and get another midnight blue pair of trousers, as it is likely they wouldn't have matched the jacket either! Shame as I thought it would have been cool to wear-still might try and get a midnight blue one as it was the first outfit from the film I wanted to wear in person. Though I wouldn't get too much wear from it...

I ordered it about 8 weeks ago. Needed a proper dinner suit so there really only was one option ;) The quality is absolutely astonishing and I can tell that once it's nipped and tucked it will look stunning. I was in a hurry today so I literally only had about 5 minutes to try it on but I will be heading back to the store in the coming days to get measured up. I've got the T&A CR shirt coming in the mail from Nico to pair with this bad boy so I'm like a kid at christmas at the moment :))

A bespoke suit wouldn't have a tag on it, nor would it need alterations.
