Would anybody know where in the usa i can purchase the special edition steelbook bluray for skyfall as mentioned in bondlifestyle and mi6 website? Will it only be released by hmv?

Just be sure your player can be set to all regions. I'm hoping the Craig box set will find its way to the US market.

Thank you I did think of that however I am just buying this version for the collection aspect I have already pre ordered the Blu ray in the USA.

The French version comes with some picture cards as well so might be a good idea to order that incase HMV don't come through with their steelbook.

Receivers inbound, and now all those Steelbooks have been produced, what's going to happen to them if they were an HMV exclusive? Glad they don't take your money till dispatch .... Unlike Jessops.

I know the stores will be closing but I'm not sure about the web site.

Well for now the HMV web site has gone the same way as the shops, though business may resume should they find someone to bail them out.

As it now looks like we're not going to get the Steelbook edition from HMV there is a small consolation in that Amazon UK have just put a triple play in at the same price as the straight BluRay, time to cancel your existing pre orders and pre order this edition instead.

I see HMV are redeeming gift vouchers again, so HOPEFULLY things will be returning to normal (or at least something resembling normal), so maybe we will see the steelbook... fingers crossed.

We spoke yesterday and he promised to call me today afer he knew for sure what was happening to pre-orders including Skyfall steelie.
It as been confirmed HMV will no longer be getting this as an exclusive and we are now able to source it from elsewhere without the fear of being billed again from HMV.
Mark told me this afternoon a BUTTON will be pressed to cancel all pre-orders anyone holds with HMV.
I had a proper 10 minute discussion with Mark over the issue and he fully assured me this is the final decision.

I have contacted Amazon who say that although the Steelbook is listed when you search in the DVD section it links to the normal Blueray version. The Steelbook is not listed and they have currently no plans to sell it However they have told me to go to HMV? and order it from them as it is exclusive to HMV.

Addendum:
I don't exactly know what is going on at Amazon.co.uk but it appears from my account I have just checked and they are sending me the "Exclusive to Amazon - Limited Edition" Steelbook edition which is at a lower price than the other Blueray I ordered.
Do not know who sent me the info (from customer service and no name!) yesterday but they said that the Warehouse Inverntary was checked!!!!!

Bit of a steelbook collector myself and the general thought around the forums seems to be to wait and see if HMV get this in. At the minute it is not looking likely (they didnt have their exclusive Looper in store and it ended up on Amazon) so the other option for those that want it is to get it from the German or French Amazons. word of warning, the French version comes with postcards but the writing onthe spine goes the wrong way. If you are a little OCD like me that will annoy you.

Just had a email from Amazon informing me that they have upgraded my standard Blueray version to the Steelbook Edition and that the only differance between the Two Blueray versions is that of the packaging.

Got an email from HMV today confirming my pre-order for the Steelbook is cancelled.

^^Yep, Steelbook name comes from the case material and design.

Yes, it's a special edition metal case that holds the Blu-Ray/DVD, instead of the usual plastic one. Steelbooks also usually have different artwork than the standard release.

As a bonus, steelcases get easily dented or scratched. Especially in the mail... If you want a mint example, pick one up at the local dvd store if available.
